I spent a week here at the yankee clipper and was very happy with its location, Amenities, and it's overall quality. The location being right on the beach with beach access was absolutely wonderful. Rooms were very clean, and we had a great view of the volleyball courts and beach from our hotel room. They also give you towels to use for the day at the beach and pool, so you don't need to bring your beach towels from home. Ft. Lauderdale is a clean and safe city, and it is beautiful. Las Olas is wonderful, so is the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Blvd. I would recommend the following restaurants to eat at as they were very good: Houston's in Pompano Beach because it is right on the water, The cheesecake factory on Las Olas Blvd., and Nick's Italian restaurant on 3400 N. AIA (ocean blvd). Their pizza was excellent and reasonable: our bill was about $40 for 3 people for bruchetta, soup, and a huge pizza with a chocolate mousse cake to die for. We rented a car for the weekend and were glad that we did. We were able to take day trips to miami, boca raton, and delray beach. Parking at the hotel was $9.50 a day (including tax) and we could come and go as we pleased. Service was excellent. They forgot to put coffee in our room one night and offered us a free night of parking for the trouble. All in all it was a wonderful trip thanks to the Yankee Clipper. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing beach vacation.

I chose this hotel after reading the good comments from this site. We stayed in the building building behind the front beach building. There was a walk (5 minutes) involved to the beach, but it wasn't too bad. The 24 hour deli was definitely convenient. We went to the Beach Place (long walking distance or $5 cab fare) and it had a couple of interesting places (it looked like a run down coconut grove). Other than that, the stores closest to the hotel are the typical t-shirt tourist places. The daily parking went up to $9 (plus tax). If you fly to Fort Lauderdale, I'd advise to get a shuttle to the hotel and rent from the rentals nearby (10 minutes away). The airport taxes/surcharges kill you for rentals! The beach is wide and clean, right next to a warm pool with a bar and grill. Towels are free for guests. Chairs are $5 on the beach for the whole day. I noticed that if you grab a chair that is not chained (somebody else paid for it and left) they won't charge you. The inside bar had free h'ors d'oeurves (don't expect too much) daily from 5:30 to 8:00. I had a frozen strawberry daiquiry which was strong and watery. The rooms were clean and well decorated (modern). The lobby has an old design, but well re-decorated. Employees were prompt. There is internet available (business area) for $5 (30 minutes). I found a great casual latin place to have steak (15 minutes drive). It's called The Knife. All you can eat stake/chicken/pork (good stuff), salad bar, wine/beer/soda and dessert included for $20 per person. In summary, good place, I'd come back (paid $185 a night).

The perfect spot in Lauderdale with everything you need in a hotel. Beach and poolside food and beverage service is excellent; basketball courts and kids playground; beautiful bar area with tv's, music and happy hour, NTN trivia, and an under water view of one of the pools. (Analyze This was filmed there!) On the side of the hotel near the pool is a nice picnic area with tables that have swings on each side. The hotel staff is as courteous as anywhere I have stayed and will attend to your every need. Only down side is parking across the street.

12 of us stayed in the Yankee Clipper. We were on a golfing trip. all men, out to having a good time. Special thanks to all the staff at the Yankee Clipper who were very helpful to us. There was music in the bar on Thurs, Fri, and Sat. No music on other nights which was a pity. The rooms and facilities were excellent. Very close to the beach which was lovely. By the the way , we travelled from Ireland. Restaurants were good too, but you have to be careful.
would recommend the Yankee Clipper to anyone. Unfortunately there were only couples staying in Hotel. We were there from 4th Nov. to 14th Nov 2004

We arrived at the Yankee Clipper 2 days after Hurricane Frances had swept through Florida. Hurricane Ivan threatened throughtout our stay.

The staff was wonderful and the hotel ammenities were pleasant. The beach is great. Lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The famous Jungle Cruise is right next door. Our room's view was excellent.

Due to the hurricanes many of the cruise lines docked at Fort Lauderdale's Port so we saw many big ships come in and out of the port from the hotel's beach front.

A great stay even though we had to leave early due to Hurricane Ivan's threat.

I'd definitely stay again.
