We stayed here one night and enjoyed it.
No problems and highly recommended.
How this hotel can be a 3-star hotel? I guarantee that this hotel is worse than almost every 2-star hotels. My room was dirty, and had really bad smells I've never experienced. Moreover, all the furnitures and doors looked at least 30-years old. Maybe I got a worse room due to Priceline bidding, but this hotel really sucks. Only good things are the nearby beach and the free volleyball courts. Please don't bid 3-star hotel in Ft. Lauderdale via Priceline.
I stayed from September 22 to September 28.
Overall great stay.
Check-in was easy. I would reccomend if you have a car to valet for the extra $2 a night. Many places in Fort Lauderdale do not offer free parking, mostly metered at $1/hr - so 24hrs valet for $14 is CHEAP!
I was staying in the South Tower (connected to the hotel - the beach tower you have to exit and walk up stairs to get to) and had a view of the ocean. Room 639. I would reccomend this tower as when I went to the Marina tower across the street to use the fitness center and it did have a strange odor to it. My tower was great - had a view of the ocean. It is a perferred guest floor so you get 2 bottles of water and extra amenties. The room was a nice size, had a sitting area with two chairs table, king bed, desk and was nice enough. Spent most the time on the beach. I did not find any mold, stained carpet, broken anything. The hotel does show it's age but that does not bother me.
The beach is a simple ride down the elevator, out the doors and few yards you are on the beach. The charis are free, umbrellas $10, cabanna $15. Towels are free too but they do ask you to check them out and in.
The bar near the beach has food service available and a hot dog with chips was $8. Hamburger was $10. Normal price for a hotel I think. The bar tender was nice and for an ice tea (16oz Arizona Ice Tea Can) was $2. The offer free water from a bottled water dispenser at the bar.
A few mornings we ate in the resteraunt. The buffet is a little high, but a 2 egg, bacon/sausage, etc breakfast was $10. Food was average.
For Sunday brunch I would reccomend The Blue Moon Fish Company -- amazing and is 29.99 per person -- good deal!!
Went to the Wreck Bar a couple of times. It was kind of a over the hill singles crown one night and the next a band was playing 50's rock -n- roll, so the crowd was a bit older.
I did have to purchase hair spray and toothbrush from the gift shop. The hair spray was $4 and the toothbrush was $3.
Also a nice feature they offer bar service on the beach. You may charge it to the room which is nice to only have to carry your ID and room key to the beach. (I left cash, credit cards, etc in the free in room safe).
I did not know what to expect from the reviews here. My experience was nothing but a clean simple room, friendly staff members (the valet got to know us and just brought the car around) right on the beach (not across) and plenty of open beach to lounge on, close to so many chain and unique resteraunts and just a good time. If you are looking for an upscale hotel then I would try the Westin in Hollywood something else not on the beach in Fort Luaderdale. I was looking to spend on the beach and have a clean, safe room on the beach. I found it.
Would I return - YES. Would I reccomend it - YES - but again ask for the South Tower. By staying here you save money on the room and have more for other vacation needs.
To me some people seem too critical of hotels when they travel. I would like to stay a night in their house and write a review.
I hope you have a great stay here like I did!
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (Thursday & Friday) before leaving on a cruise.
We arrived at the hotel late Thursday night. We decided to valet because it was only a few dollars more to do this. The other option was to park your own car and walk across the street.
I was happy with our decision.
We checked in without a problem and were booked in a room in the building on the beach. (this hotel has 5 buildings) They are not connect so you do have to go outside to get to the next building. Get ready for a walk after you leave the lobby.
Tip...have the bellhop take you to your room. The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing and to save time it was good to have someone who knew where they were going.
The hotel is a little older, but I think it is in good shape. The room was average size and very clean.
In the building we stayed in, you could walk directly to the beach. There were two pools in different locations they were small, but they were not full so it worked out. There is a nice bar beside the pool. It is expensive, but not any more expensive than your normal hotel bar.
The beach was nice and you get 2 free beach chairs/lounger as a guest. If you want an umbrella, you pay an additional $10.
I was very happy with this hotel and would stay there again.
