“Not kid-friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is a fine hotel but it is not kid-friendly. It takes 5 minutes to walk from your room to your hotel. The view was better than I expected it to be. The staff were helpful. There are not a lot of places for your toddlers to roam around inside the hotel and the Mermaid show was a disappointment. There was a long line to enter the hotel and once you got in, there were no seats left. My toddler started crying and it basically made the rest of the night a disappointment. The food was very expensive. Outrageously expensive. Far walk from a lot of attractions. Because this was our first time to F. Lauderdale, and this place made a good but not lasting impression.

The staff, pool area, and the beach were great. I wanted to try different restaurants but I had to take a cab. The closest liquor store was 2 miles away. One drink was $9 at pool bar so I thought BYOB was a better option. My suggestion is to stop and buy your supplies first.

my wife's on tour with a bway show so i joined her here for a few days. a classic and kitchy Fort Lauderdale beach property its a very good value hotel but certainly not luxury. 2 pools, multiple bars and restaurants. a great location. beds seem less than great, room and services ok. but why spend time in the room when the beach is out the backdoor. For Starwood Devotees the W up the street is way better and the former Yankee Trader is now a Westin...this recomended for a taste of old florida and a quick value stay right on the beach. i wish the windows opened so we could hear the ocean...

The biggest pro for this hotel is its location. It has its own private beach and lounges are included. The beach guys are very nice and helpful, but of course they work for tips. The umbrellas are an extra cost of $15 and they have servers on the beach if you don't feel like taking a short walk to the pool area where there is a restaurant and bar.

We stayed in the newer beach tower which was a pretty average room. The first room they gave us had some issues with a leaky faucet which caused a puddle on the floor when you turned it on. Our room was across hall from the elevator and was so noisy due to someone having a very loud argument right outside our door that we became alarmed. We requested to be moved to a different room and they gave us the one next to it which was better. The bedding was very comfy, however there aren't refrigerators in the room and we like to bring our own beverages.
The bathroom was too small and we were cramped.
We had a rental car so you need to park in their lot. So add $20 per night to self park or $25 for valet plus tip when you are figuring the cost.

They have a couple of bars which we didn't go to, however they were hopping. This hotel gets a lot of cruise trade and we noticed large groups in the lobby.

The big advantage is the location to the beach, but other than that there are plenty of better places to stay.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel twice since last November and we enjoyed the location and, especially, the wonderful staff at the hotel.
The rooms are very spacious and we stayed at the beach tower, with a full view of the ocean. The pool is also right on the beach and you can go back and forth if you want to enjoy both possibilities. The staff will bring towels and lawn chairs to the sand for you and all you have to do is relax.
The location is great and within walking distance from Las Olas Boulevard, with all the restaurants and fine stores. I would definitely stay there again.

This is in a great location, right next to the water taxi stop 7, on the beautiful beach, and close to restaurants and shops! Highly recommend this for any stay! The coffee stop in the lobby was handy, and the pools were great too! Private beach access was a bonus!

Room Tip: Building across the road is great and view was spectacular!

Close to the cruise terminals. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel offers valet parking on the first deck of parking garage across the street, or you may select to self-park on deck 2-4. Parking is $20 per night. We had a first floor room located directly in front of the pool. We had an issue with a non-operational air conditioner. Called the front desk and within 15 minutes the maintenance staff arrived with a brand new unit and replaced the air conditioner within 8 minutes. Concierge was a wealth of knowledge and very pleasant as well. The on-site restaurant was fabulous for breakfast. Also have a fitness room offering cool moist towels right out of the refrigerator for after your work-out.

Room Tip: You have several choices of rooms. They have 2 distinct buildings in which you can stay. Either th...
