My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Yankee Clipper for $160 per night thanks to Priceline. The hotel was clean and the room was a little dark but tidy and well laid out. We were on the 3rd floor of the main building; our door opened directly to an outdoor patio that overlooked one of the pools rather than an indoor corridor (which was a good thing as the indoor corridors smelled a little smokey, in spite of the "no smoking" designation). There were two pools, both smallish but clean and warm, and there were comfortable beach chairs on the large, beautiful beach. I was a little put off by the "rental fee" for cabanas, sun umbrellas, and extra chairs, but the food service directly on the beach was fast and excellent. The downstairs bar had great ambiance (apparently a scene from "Analyze This" was filmed there), good drinks, and great half-price appetizers during happy hour. The restaurant was just okay. The hotel is distributed over 3 main buildings and we were in the main one; there was a short walk through the complex to get to the beach. Outside of the hotel there isn't much of interest except for the beach; a moderate (15 minute) walk down the beach will take you to some small casual restaurants. For a nice evening meal it is easier to take a cab the 3 miles (about $6-12 depending on traffic) to the more popular Las Olas downtown area with its excellent shopping and restaurant selection. All in all, a pleasant stay at a pleasant location for an excellent price. We certainly would have felt that we overpaid dramatically if the room had been more than $200 per night.
