This is pretty nice place with a good location and not far from the airport. We our stay despite the issues we encountered.
The first issue was with out check-in. We arrived at 2:30 p.m. and had to wait nearly two hours for our room to be ready. The front desk was very apologetic about the delay and were pretty easy to deal with. However, It was annoying to see other people arrive and get their rooms without delay.
When we finally got to our room, it was fine. We had a nice view of the beach and the ocean and the room was in good shape and well maintained. The Sheraton dream bed was wonderful. The bathroom was a tad small but we managed.
The television reception was not too great. Some stations came in fine and others were a bit fuzzy. Of course, the channels we wanted to watch at night had reception trouble. I did call to complain but was told that there was nothing that could be done.
We returned to our room one evening to find no shampoo or soap being left by housekeeping. We called and got it delivered to our room very quickly which was fine. The housekeeping staff likes to get an early start so don’t be too surprised should they knock on your door early seeing if they can clean the room. One morning, they woke us up.
The walls in this hotel are also paper-thin. On more than a few occasions, we could hear other peoples’ conversations loud and clear including some drunks next door to us.
There is a restaurant here which was okay for breakfast even though it was a bit pricey. It’s buffet style and does have an omelet station. You are within walking distance to some very good restaurants though. The bar was nice and you can see inside the pool that is right above it. Remember that if swimming in there!
The hotel is old and needs work. Some of the elevator areas are showing a lot of wear and tear. Some of the hallways have numerous scratches and marks. The pools (there are two here) were fine and the private beach was wonderful. There is a bar by the beach that does a pretty brisk business.
The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly.
The hotel is made up of three buildings. One is a smaller one right by the beach, alarger main building (ours) and one across the street connected by a walkway. It can be a bit of a walk to the beach and pool especially if you are across the street. There is self and valet parking. Use the valet as it’s easier to get your car especially if you plan on using it often.
The reception area can get very busy at times as many airline personnel stay here as do many people who are coming to and from cruises. The concierge desk is very helpful.
Word to the wise. Be cautious here during football season and especially on weekends when the Dolphins are home. This is a very popular place for out of town fans to stay when they fly in to watch their team play on the road. A lot of visiting fans were here who quickly took over the beach and the nearby pool. There were quite a few drunks and it appeared that many of them were traveling as part of large groups. As a result of the presence of those fans, we stayed away from that area after we left due to their behavior. It appeared that no one from Sheraton was willing or brave enough to intervene as many were so drunk that they were out of control. That’s not good as many parents were there with their kids who we noticed leaving.
I would stay here again due to the location and the beach but not during football season. Hopefully, Sheraton renovates this place as it really needs it.
