Booked this hotel two month's in advance for a 3 night stay following our cruise. Stopped in early morning to see what time check in was and they said to check back in a couple of hours. We were told our reservation for two rooms (one nonsmoking & one room smoking) turned out to be both nonsmoking. We booked this hotel through expedia and the confirmation clearly stated what we had booked and paid for. Front desk was able to rearrange one of the nonsmoking rooms to smoking for us. We stayed on the grounds and kept checking back hour to hour to see when our rooms would be ready. Four hours later, we finally were able to check in, but unfortunately the lady that rearranged our rooms, had left for the day, and the new reception clerk was not informed of our room necessities. He told us that he did not have any smoking rooms available now, it was too late, and all were fully booked. We had been there all day waiting and he basically said, we do NOT GUARANTEE WHAT YOU GET, especially when you do not book directly through the hotel, your wishes are only requests, READ THE FINE PRINT!!! He was extremely rude and standoffish!!! My first impression with reception left me feeling that this hotel just wanted your cashamungo, and on with the next!! The marina view is what we did get, and the view was fabulous. The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to airport, close to cruiseport, beach & water taxi's (which are a great way to get around). The hotel itself, needs to be knocked down (marina hotel especially). The bellhop told us it's 50 years old, I would think double that! The deli cafe in the marina hotel has alot of variety and great coffee. Room service prices seemed over the top. Drinks at the pool bar were more expensive than the cruiseship?? Our rooms were actually comfortable enough, but housekeeping never seemed to think you required facecloths. I had to call to request facecloths and it seemed to take a couple of hours and another call before your received any. Service was LAX-A-DAISY all the way around, even the concierge seemed irritated if you required any information! The hotel cost $160 per night plus, parking $18 per day, and internet access was 9.95 daily rate. I would never stay at this hotel again, the main reason is crystal clear -- the staff at this hotel gave me the impression that they could care less if you ever came back!! Imagine that??q
