We just came back (4/19) from a two day stay at the Bahia Mar and was pleasantly surprised. We booked the marina room. When we first arrived I noticed the room was too close to the elevator so I asked if there was a different room available. The front desk upgraded us to an oceanview room. The front desk was extremely friendly and accomodating to us. The room was a bit outdated but I found the room to be clean and smoke free. The location of this hotel is great. It is near everything. The pool was very clean and the food at the the pool bar was reasonalbe. Also I might add the staff at the pool were so friendly and helpful. We bought lunch at the Bahia deli and ate at the pool. I would however not recommend breakfast at the bahia deli. I thought the bagels and coffee were not that great and expensive. In addition - my daughter by mistake bought two muffins instead of one and they would not let her return it even though it was unopened and with the receipt. The deli has a no return or refund policy. That is bizzare! I would recommend the Floridian diner for breakfast - the food was plentiful and good. Also - I would recommend buying an umbrella on las olas blvd - cheap for around $15 worth it. Oh and another note on the hotel after we checked out - I forgot our umbrella at the pool the day before - the hotel with no problem gave me a key - the umbrella was safely put away at the exerise room - again I thought the staff was extremely accomodating to us. For the price, we were satisfied with our stay.

I'm not sure I can add much to what has already been written about how horrible this dump is.

My 3 night experience began before check in when I noticed trash lying around everywhere particularly the "pool area", or should I say "debris field." Cups, cans, food, used tissues, bags, like someone blew up a garbage truck before setting out the lounge chairs. The front desk personnel treated us like we were the enemy greeting us with a warm "here" as she chunked us the keys. She didn't spit in our faces but looked as if she wanted to. The street gutter in front in the hotel is much cleaner than the hotel or its rooms where trash was allowed to accumulate in barrels to overflowing. The lobby restrooms were as filthy as overused port-a-potties at a bike rally. It was all I could do not to scream when I went in one. I refused to use them. The room we received had stains all over the bathroom fixtures and ants were crawling around the exterior wall. After drawing my bath I noticed a layer of rust particles floating on the green water. There was a pink crusty material on the bed linen top sheet that looked like dried pepto bismol. The smell of the room can't be adequately described -- chain smoking skunks come to mind but a more industrial odor than that -- just sickening. The place reeks. Needless to say we spent every spare minute we could far away from the "resort." Lulu's down the street at Beach Place is a fun escape and they never questioned why we spent all day there.

I highly recommend that you DO NOT pick here to stay if you care about cleanliness. It was just gross--pubic hairs in the bathroom sinks---hair still on the sheets. Very disappointing---this should not be a four start hotel.....plus, it was extremely expensive!

We made a reservation on line for this hotel. When we arrived, it looked a bit dumpy but we were only staying one night so decided we could stick it out...until we got to our room. It had not been cleaned, the sheets were missing, the bathroom was a wreck. We called the front desk and rather than moving us to a clean room, they sent a maid to come clean up. When the maid arrived she asked us where the sheets were. We told her that we had just checked in and this was the room they gave us. Needless to say, we were furious that they didn't give us a new room. We immediately opened the yellow pages and found a Holiday Inn near the Airport in Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale. The Holiday Inn actually sent their shuttle all the way to the Bahia Mar to pick us up. They were wonderful. The Bahia Mar was a complete dump, don't waste your time or money going there!

We stayed March 19 to 21st. We have been there before and it was very nice. This time it was terrible. Food trays were left in hallway for two days. Womans restroom in hotel lobby was filthy with feces everywhere. Rooms were never cleaned properly. Pool area trash cans full and overflowing blowiing trash around area. We would never stay there again.
