What can I say? We stayed a night which happened to be the night of Hurricane Wilma on 10/23. Remind me to never go to Florida again during hurricane season ;)

The staff took excellent care of all of out of towners. We are from NY and the hurricane caused considerable amount of damage. The staff was very kind and very attentive to our needs. They made sure we were fed and taken care of until the moment we checked out.

Wonderful location!!! Access to the beach without crossing the busy A1A. Great rooms at a great price. This is a prime location and when we do go there again, we will definitely choose the Bahia Mar again!

the only excellent thing i have to say is that it is really just a step or so to the beach... housekeeping does need to be upgraded, the balcony windows were very dirty & the decor of the room a bit outdated. Although one must condsider the choices of hotels on the beach front are very limited, price wasnt too bad either. hospitality is over all good.

I stayed here in April and paid for it then and then they charged my credit card again in September this time over $300 more than the original charge. No one could give me a good answer as to why this happened and they said they have received this complaint a lot recently. Definitely needs some accounting restructuring. The hotel itself was alright but nothing special. Across the street from the beach. The tower looked nicer than the other building. The bay view isn't a very nice view.

We stayed at the Bahia Mar two weeks prior to the biggest boat show in the world. We loved it here. The hotel was much as we expected, it is one of the older hotels along the beach and as such the decor reflects this. Although attempts have been made to brighten up the rooms with a lick of paint. Our experience of hotels in the US is that they are all pretty much the same - a lower standard than the UK - unless you want to pay the earth, so we were more than satisfied with what we found here.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. One of our biggest bug-bears is needing a hire car every time we go to the states but I'm happy to say we didn't need one here. The water taxi and local bus service up and down the beach was great and cost $5 and $2.50 for all day tickets. Most attractions are within walking distance or a short ride on the water bus. Taxis are expensive ($12 for a 4 mile ride, $60 for a 12 mile ride) so be careful.
If you stay prior to the boat show there is a lot of construction work going on around this hotel due to the massive preparations. Some of the local services are disrupted too but it didn't make a big difference. The hotel is the primary host to the boat show.
All in all we had a fabulous time here. We were supposed to move on to Miami for our last couple of days but didn't bother as the hotel was so accommodating, pleasant and provided us with great facilities. If we return to Ft.Lausderdale we wouldn't think twice about booking this place again.

We were actually fairly pleased with this hotel in spite of some minor problems. This hotel appears to be comprised of a tower section and a smaller (maybe 5 story) section. We stayed in on the 4th floor of the smaller section. The room was clean and had a small balcony. Carpet probably should be replaced as it appeared dirty (beach hotels should probably stick to tile floors as a rule). Access to the beach and the pool was via a walkway which was convenient. I noticed that most of the bars were further north up A1A, and it would be a good walk to most of them. However there were a couple of restaurants and a Subway nearby. The Hotel also had a couple of gift shops/deli, but we didn't check them out. The beaches were very nice. The pool was large and about 10 ft deep. It was located top of another building in the complex There was a bar at the pool (piña coladas were $7.50 each ...ouch). We did enjoy the pool though. Staff was nice enough. Parking was plentiful, and was $10 to self-park. The only major problem we had was that the drain in the shower was very slow. We didn't complain about it since it was only one night. However, I suspect it was from all the sand that has been washed down the drain over the years. All-in-all, not bad. I would stay here again.
