My husband and I live on the west coast of Florida. We needed a getaway and decided to go to the east coast for three nights.
I had stayed at the Bahia Mar 25 years ago and recalled it being a great experience. Obviously times change, but I must say we were not disappointed in any way. My husband was thrilled with the location. Everything you need is at your finger tips, beginning with the beautiful beach and the great pool. We arrived at 11 am and were allowed to check right in. We went up to the pool bar for a bloody mary and some lunch. The cocktails and the food were very good, and Doug, the bartender was very friendly and fun. Stephanie was on the next day and was also friendly and fun! They both make great drinks!!
The Bahia Mar is on the water taxi route and it is a great way to get around. There are eleven stops and lots of restuarants are accessible at the various stops. There are also numerous charter fishing boats available right at the marina and my husband was able to take advantage of the great fishing. I took photos of the boat right from my hotel balcony as they were leaving the dock!! We spent the mornings on the beach and the afternoons by the pool. Life doesn't get any better.
In addition to the pool bar and restaurant, there is a full bar and restaurant within the hotel and a market and deli on the property if you need something or want sandwiches for the beach, etc.
The Bahia Mar is easily accesible from the highway in a perfect location, with incredible romantic views, loaded with amenities and serviced by a friendly, capable staff.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the beds are VERY comfortable, the pillows are great and the towels are ample and thick. The rooms are spacious with heavy drapes to keep the sun out in case you decide to stay in bed after the sun rises.
A great, fun experience!! We will go back!

My parents have been going to Bahia Mar for thirty years or so. The location cannot be beat. The walkway over A1A gives great beach access, and if you don't like the sand try out the pool. If you like boats this is the place to be. Easy access to the Water Taxi as well. You can walk down the "strip" of A1A easily from here.

In the past few years the hotel has gone down a little, I assume from changing ownership so many times. I'll still go back to this hotel everytime I'm in Ft. Lauderdale!

Had a great time here. The hotel offers a variety of room views as well as a big pool, top drawer fitness center and pool bar all in one place and the Atlantic Ocean across the street with a big, wide, white sandy beach patrolled by lifeguards every 100 yards or so. Enjoyed the restauarant/bar/coffee shop and big gift shop. The king sized bed was the most comfortable I've found in years. And the room was nice and quiet at night. I already booked a room for October.
As the man said: "I'll be back!"

My husband and I have stayed at the Bahia Mar every summer for the past few years and for the first time...and LAST...we were so very displeased with our stay. In short....from our previous years the GROUNDS have upgraded, but the SERVICE has downgraded immensely.
First off, our room service order came up wrong and WE were made to feel at fault. The delivery person kept telling us that he repeated the order over and over to us and I KNOW we told him TWO orders only, but three were brought up. Rather than continue to be made to feel like it was OUR fault and that it would be a bother to reimburse us...we went ahead and kept the third order. After all...that one scoop of eggs may have sent them into the red I guess???
Nextly, on the LAST full day of our stay, I awoke at 5:30 am to use the restroom facilities and the commode water backed up and ALMOST overflowed. After a total of 5-6 hours of maintenance coming in and out....WE had to make the decision to move rooms. it was NOT offered to us at first....and neither was an upgrade. That was a FIRST. ANY other hotel we every stayed in...as frequent guests especially, would have at LEAST offered an upgrade. We ened up having to take a room that was LESS than our extra requests that we made at reservations. Nextly, the morning of checkout (we were never so glad to LEAVE a vacation!), one person manned the front desk....(who knew NOTHING about our dilemnas, mind you) and only ONE person was in front of us, while we had cab waiting....and my husband had to stand in line for 10 minutes before he was waited on!!
Oh, and did I mention that when we order the lunch at poolside, after waiting almost 30 minutes for it to come to us....my order was wrong...AGAIN??
To some people, my complaints may seem petty but, number one, when you spend ALOT of money into an establishment and are yearly guests, one would think you might be treated with a LITTLE more compassion...not to mention, when you are on vacation you want to RELAX, not have to deal with constant dilemas! Its easy to say, we will NOT be back. There are too many competitive hotels ALSO on the beachfront, ALSO with breathtaking views of the marina, intercoastal waterway and beach....ALSO with comparable rates, who care more about guests returning....rather than to just GET guests to pay for their upgrades! We know the area VERY well...and its sad that alot of the people who have posted here don't. You can do SO much better...do your research!
