Great hotel. Great service. Awesome beach view and couldn't have a better location. Plus it has a crosswalk to the beach to avoid traffic! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to come down to ft. Lauderdale or a surrounding area. Well worth your time and money.

The Bahia Mar Hotel was by far one of the best! My husband and I had an overnight flight and arrived at the hotel at 7 AM. We were greeted by friendly staff and warm cookies. We had a reservation and were allowed to check in right away, didn't have to wait till 3 or 4 in the afternoon. We were able to take a nap and wake refreshed, ready to start a wonderful day at the beach. The beach was right across the street and the hotel had a beautiful outdoor pool as well.
We spent a day in Ft Lauderdale before and a day after a cruise. We have a Hilton Honors card, had reservations and were able to check in early both times with an ocean view room. The taxi ride to and from the airport was $20, including tip. We went to Catholic Mass at Saint Sebastians on Saturday twice. We took a taxi from the hotel and paid about $10, including tip. It was a very nice church and we were given a ride back to the hotel both times by nice people of the parish. We walked to the church the second time, it is nice there and I felt safe. We just got a nice post card from the church thanking us for visiting them. Our cruise was out of Miami. We took the cruise transfer to and from the airport. We find the cruise transfers to work well for us.

Room Tip: 6th floor, ocean view, perfect

I have stayed in many 5 star properties and occasional dumps, the marina view "upgraded" room we stayed in was a dump. While the room was generally clean and well sized, the attempt to remodel with plastic chairs and plastic baskets in a storage cube for a dresser along with the plastic headboards reminded me of outdoor furniture. The only touches that remotely reminded you that this was indeed a hilton property were the crabtree and evelyn stocked bathroom and high thread count soft sheets. The beds were comfortable, but all pillows were feather and no substitutes were in the room, they are usually found in the closet or bottom dresser drawer. I was too tired to call and wait for pillows to be brought up.
The microwave, mini fridge, and coffee make were nice and allowed us to store our drinks we had from the cottage we rented in Key West.

The checkin procedure was easy,in fact too easy as we soon realized we had no idea where our room was and didn't understand the self park option. There are two buildings and our rooms were across the parking lot from where we checked in. This was not pointed out,nor was the fact that there is one elevator for the entire building near the opposite end from where we parked. The parking in front of the second building was reserved for valet and the main enterance was not easily found at night. We loved that we had a fourth floor room, but thatwas soon a problem since we couldn't find the elevators and had to lug two large suitcases up four flghts of stairs. We were also awoken by noise from the mysterious upstairs that didn't exist.

Since we booked last minute through hotwire, I have not complained, but had I paid a full price, I would be angry and would have demanded better.

Access to the beach seems simple and we will discover that today. I will revise my review as we gather more information.

Room Tip: The main tower rooms may be better.

Group of 8 friends thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bahia Mar. From the welcome at the beginning with hotcakes when we arrived to the efficient bill payment. No worries at all. The Bar and Grille were well staffed and efficient. lovely meals for us there. Our bedroom was lovely and airy - we had a Marina View which was fabulous and a Balcony. Enjoyed the scenery and also the beach was across the road. I would recommend this Hotel - value for money - not overpriced like some American Hotels we paid for. Loved it. We will be back and have told our friends in New Zealand about it.

I am a frequent traveler and have stayed in a number of Doubletrees. This was, by far, the most disappointing. No room service. My "free" breakfast I am entitled to via my HHonors status would have cost $6 to upgrade. We asked the concierge where we could eat since, despite being across the street from the ocean, there was only one fresh seafood dish and he merely referred us back to their own restaurant! This is not a full-service hotel as I would expect for the rate I paid. The only saving grace was the ocean view. I'd rather stay at the Hilton on the Intercoastal to enjoy the amenities a hotel should provide at this price point. Or frankly book a Hilton Garden for less money but at least room service and a better menu.

I travel a lot and typically stay at Marriotts. Stayed at the Bahia Mar in Ft Lauderdale because the room rate was better than the Marriott down the street.
We stayed in one of the "out buildings." It was four floors.
The room was, shall we say, sparse. The decor appeared to be a combination of minimalist and new wave funk. The room itself was clean and the bed was VERY VERY comfortable!! The room had a microwave and mini-fridge. The bathroom was rather small and cramp. Room service happened after 4pm - kind of annoying but not a deal breaker.
When we made the reservation we had no idea that this hotel was a DESTINATION, rather than "just a hotel." The marina has, at any given time, $2billion worth of yachts docked there, we were told - and it looked like it!
The clientele was very much upscale.
There is a store on the premises: All About Food. The prices reflect what the clientele can pay. If you're like us, hit the 7-11 just up the street and save yourself a lot of money for the same items.
They also gave us a BIG list of things to do while there! Ranging from kids activities to romantic sun set catamaran cruises. We did the sunset catamaran cruise and the snorkeling trip!
Access to the beach is either crossing an active road or using the over-the-road walkway they have. Be sure to bring your room key everywhere you go as all the doors are locked all of the time to prevent "non-guests" from gaining access to the hotel.
You'll walk past a public basketball court and workout area from the over-the-road walkway to get to the beach.
They have a great pool area with a bar too. Bring your room key to gain access.
Given that we spent next to no time in the "funky room," the decor of the room really didn't matter.
Overall, great place to stay with a ton of things to do at a great rate. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a high floor with an ocean or marina view. The higher the floor the better the view. Avoid t...

After reading some of the reviews of this particular hotel, I actually wonder if these people actually stayed there. During our stay, we had nothing but a pleasant experience. Everyone was accommodating, from the valet to the bartenders. What really made this stay stand out, was the hospitality the whole staff showed us. One of the managers Ryan, made sure we had everything we needed during our stay, he was a pleasure to deal with, and one of the reasons I will return to this hotel. The young man at the front, Jared, was also great and accommodating. The staff in whole deserves 6 stars! Thanks for making us feel like at home!!!
