We stayed at this hotel last June but I never got around to writing a review. Originally we wanted to go to Miami for a weekend or Paradise Island but with the only place we could get an airmiles flight to was Fort Lauderdale. At first , I thought we would just drive to Miami but then read different postings and decided to stay at this hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The lobby was very nice. We arrived and the room was not ready till after 4 so I asked for some compensation and they gave me a coupon for breakfast for 2 which i thought was nice. We had asked for an OceanView non smoking room. They only had a smoking room left. I think that since that time the whole property has gone non smoking. As it was hot we kept the balcony room door open and it was ok. The room was nice large and very spacious. Nice tv and bathroom. Also had nice soaps, body wash and shampoo.
The pool area was very nice. Quite alot of places to sit. It was also a big pool where you could swim. Seemed to be alot of families. I think that the pool is part of a club that people can pay to join as I overheard people talking and it sounded like they were from the area. Not overly noisy so it didn't bother me. THen their was the ocean which was very nice. In June , the water was warm with good waves. For florida beaches it was not bad and the area around the beach was very clean. If you take a long walk down the beach past the hotel areas the beach are public and not quite as clean.
We ate brunch two mornings in the hotel restaurant and the food was good but kind of expensive , but we had one free voucher because of the late check in so that was a help. They also had a small cafetria type of restaurant beside the pool and a pool bar which is nice for an afternoon drink. The service in the restaurant was very good.
As far as Fort Lauderale was concered we basically spent the day at the pool and beach and ate in the hotel. At inight we took a Taxi to the Riverwatch area and ate in a couple of different restaurants. They were good and it was fun walking around the area. There were some good bars and we went to one place with a professional fiddler and she was amazing. We also walked atround to the Riverwatch area which was also nice. It wasn't South Beach but in a way it was a little more laid back which was good. We also went to Charlies Crab and ate by the water which was nice. The food was good but overpriced for what you got. All in all we enjoyed our stay and liked the beachfront property and the amenties it had. It is sort of a combination of a resort and a convention hotel. The price was expensive for off season but I would go back, although I would likely look to see if there are any newer hotels that are cheaper on the beach if that ex.ists
