My family and I spent 3 days (2 nights) at the Harbor Beach Marriott early this April. I have 3 young children (4, 7, 8)

The location is perfect and the pool and beach areas are great.

The rooms are dated and for the price we paid ($459.00) per night, not acceptable. Even though the hotel is non-smoking, our room had a very distinctive smoke smell. The front desk was no help in finding a solution.

We could not get chairs by the pool, since the pool area was occupied by non-hotel guests. We did not know this when we booked but the Marriott sells pool and beach club memberships to local residents of the Ft. Lauderdale area. Great deal if you're a local. Not so great if you are a hotel guest.

It was almost impossible for our kids to swim in the pool since we could not get close to it to supervise them. Even though 40% of the chairs seemed available, people "reserved" them and staff did not appear willing to uphold the 60 minute use it or lose it rule.

The beach was less crowded, but the hotel charges for use of its chairs on the beach, even though we were paying guests of the hotel. The nickle and dime part of this hotel gets to you after a few days.

The food was average but the restaurant staff was very good.

We dealt with the front desk twice, and both times the service was almost rude and very unprofessional.

We will not stay here again and if you have children, I recommend somewhere else.

  • Liked — Right on the Beach
  • Disliked — Pool area crowded with locals.

Stayed there a few weeks ago. The hotel has beautiful rooms and a gigantic pool. Most of the rooms have either an ocean view or a pool/ocean view. We had the p/o view and would not have paid extra for the full ocean view. Beware as the other rooms have views on a construction site or a parking.

The Oceans Restaurant is one of the best we've ever been to. Its expensive but worth it for at least one supper. The breakfast buffet is also amazing (expensive) and they have a little restaurant by the pool which is fine for lunch and drinks. They also have a Starbucks in the hotel which is great for a quick latte and muffins.

The hotel is very pricey (we paid more than 400$ a night) and we were disapointed that this did not include the parking , meals, pads on the chairs or any sort of perk. Everything is extra so beware if your budget-conscious. The parking is 23$ US per day. If you have to go out a lot by car, it ends up being pricey. Pads on chairs are 10$ a day, umbrellas 15$ and so on.

Staff was friendly and very professionnal.

The hotel is a long walking distance (about 25 -35 minutes) from the main FLauderdale Beach area and the Las Olas boulevard which has restaurants and shops which is not very convenient if you're not the stay-at-the-hotel-all the-time type.

They seemed to have a nice kids program but at the time we went there, the ocean was very wavy and I would not have let my child go in there. However this is is the case with almost all of Florida's East Coast and not particular to this hotel. The West Coast has calmer waters. The amazing pool compensates for that in this case.

We had decided to choose this hotel because it was one of the only one that was beachfront and had a great pool but next time we will try the Hilton which is better located for our needs and just across the street from the beach with nothing blocking the view.

I would recommend this hotel for business conferences or older couples but not necessarily for families or younger couples.

A hotel experience is very subjective. What one traveler finds paradise might be torturous to another, and vice versa. Having said that, the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort is not perfect, but it IS one of the better hotel experiences I've had in South Florida.

I returned this past week after an absolutely glorious stay last spring. I did find some unfortunate changes. The staff at check-in was vaguely disinterested that I had arrived- to the point that they didn't even ask if I wanted assistance with my luggage to my room (I didn't- but that's besides the point). My room was clean, but I wouldn't really say it had a thorough once-over before I arrived- one of the blankets had a musty odor, and it took 2 days to get it replaced! (more on housekeeping later).

The pool area is absolutely lovely- but heaven forbid you want the shade, AND wish to sleep past 8 am. The pool staff, who does do an admirable job, needs to do better. The policy is that lounges left unused for 1 hour would be freed up for other hotel guests. That's terrific, but the staff should have done a better job of patroling and keeping track of the lounges. Tagging them is great- but not if staff neglects to be vigilent about abandoned lounges.

Back to housekeeping- they need a serious attitude check! I was out of my room between 10 and 3 on the first day of my vacation. When I returned, my room still hadn't been made up! I called housekeeping, who assured me that someone would be right there. Nearly 2 hours later, when I decided to shower, I put out the "do not disturb" sign. THAT'S when they decided to show up- a fact I learned from 4 rather annoying phone calls from housekeeping. Needless to say, I never did get my room cleaned that day- and the experience was similar the next day (when I was finally, begrudgingly, handed a new blanket- yes HANDED- to replace the musty one).

There's a lot of good about this hotel also. First, a lot has been said about it not being near to anything. Personally, I drive enough all year- I'm good with staying on the hotel property. The beach is beautiful, the pool, although it has it's problems, is well maintained, and it really is a great place to simply rewind all day long. The food, though pricey, is quite good- especially the pool side restaurant which has great sandwiches and salads, as well as typical "beach fare" (hamburgers, franks, chicken). If you want a light dinner, just pick up a sandwich or salad and squeeze it into the mini bar for later!

Room service food is great- we had the grilled salmon one night, and one could not hope for a better presented meal. I read a lot of gripes about the price of the food- but seriously, if you rent a car, pay to park it every day ($21!) just so you can get a cheaper meal- why bother? I would rather stay put and sample all the goodies at the excellent restaurants.

The hotel, while showing its age, is in the middle of a renovation due to be completed in the fall- I fully expect that a total overhaul will accompany that renovation (meaning staff attitude). All in all, this is a good property, and I would stay here again.

  • Liked — Great food, comfy rooms (but improve housekeeping , please!)
  • Disliked — Housekeeping! And outrageous charges for internet access.

We selected the Harbor Beach based on comments on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Very nice hotel, nice pool and beach area. It's not near anything in Ft. Lauderdale but the complex was very nice, and the rooms are fine. Food prices are very high, but you can work it off it the fitness center! Our only complaint was that one of the servers in the bar didn't clean our table before she served us. Over all, an enjoyable experience.

This review is very much overdo, as I came here three years ago for my sweet sixteen. It was gorgeous I had such a lovely four days here. I never had any need for the reception except for check-in, and I wasn't even dealing with that. We went to the restaurant that's in the hotel and it was awesome. One of the best steaks I've ever had. The breakfast was alright, but I'm not much of a breakfast person. The spa services were beautiful. We did the day at the spa on day two, and had a few services but the ones that I remember were the Sweedish massage and a body wrap. The massage was amazing, they had no problem catering to my needs, in that I was not able to have oil spread on me. The wrap was amazing. I admit, I felt like I was in a cuccoon, but after when the saranwrap-type wrap was taken off of me, and I was instructed to go into the showers, I have never felt my skin so smooth. It did take away my tan though, but it's alright I tan easily. I remember the private pool in the spa was so relaxing. There was not too many people in it, so it was peaceful and relaxing. I love swimming, so it made it even better with the underwater music. I can't comment on the other pool because I only went to the spa pool. The main one seemed a bit too loud for me and I was here for rest and relaxation. The beach was nice, water was freezing cold though. The rooms were beautiful and exceptional. Everything about this hotel was amazing. I'd recommend this to anyone, especially those who love taking advantage of spa services.

  • Liked — our hotel room had a beautiful view of the ocean and it was so soothing to hear the sound of the waves late at night
