My husband, 2 yr old daughter and I just returned from the Harbor Beach Marriott. While the hotel was very nice, it is not a 5 star resort.

Our room was very nice and the beds very comfortable; however, the room was not quite as clean as I would have liked. The bathroom was not dirty but definitely needed more attention to details (hair was on the floor). The towels were not very soft and the water pressure was on the light side.

The service personnel were all very friendly, helpful and nice but not very fast or efficient. We waited moderately long periods of time for both food service and room service. We also found the food to be mediocre to good but not great except for Restaurant Riva that served an excellent breakfast buffet - free for kids under 4 years old.

The bar in the lobby was beautiful and I had a delicious mojito but it cost $11.70! They had a very good beer selection. They also had live music, which was a very nice addition to the atmosphere.

The beach was beautiful, clean and an easy walk down a “boardwalk” from the hotel. The pool was also very nice – surrounded by palm trees which gave it a tropical feel. It was great for kids and the pool bar was also just steps away.

There was a sports center and umbrella service ($10 per day and worth every penny!) on the beach. So you could jet ski, parasail or just lie around. That was great!

The hotel is not within walking distance to restaurants, shopping or even a 7-11 or fast food even though they kept telling us things were just a few blocks away…more like over a mile through a construction site! That might be OK if you don’t have a baby! We found that to be quite frustrating since there was no convenience store in the hotel to get things like milk or diapers.

The concierge also did not give the best information. We asked where to find a good beer selection and they said they didn’t know (they could have said their own bar!). They also sent us to a restaurant that was in the middle of nowhere and had to wait over 20 minutes for a cab to get back.

Overall, we had a very nice time but I do not think we would go back due to the lack of attention to details. It is a nice place if you do not have expectations of having a 5 star experience.

We recently stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriott for a weekend in July 2004. The hotel lobby is great and rooms are very nice. Although I paid for a non-view room, I was upgraded for free to an ocean view room since I am a Marriott Rewards Member. The only negative part was the self serve pool bar food. I paid $8 for a chicken pita and $2.50 for a can of soda! The chicken was fatty and fries were cold, burger king put the place to shame. With that said, if you want a great hotel on Fort Lauderdale Beach this is the hotel. The rest of the hotels on the beach are dated. However, this is definately a four star hotel, not a five star hotel. Just don't go in with five star expectations despite the web-site.

My husband and I enjoyed a four night stay at this hotel several weeks ago. We found our room to be very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach was very clean with umbrellas and cabanas that can be rented by the day. The drinks at the pool bar were delicious, although a little pricey. Expect to pay almost $10 for any mixed drink. 3030 restaurant was very good and the service was excellent. The pool was clean with plenty of lounge chairs for everyone. The "resort concept" is nice, as you can charge eveything to your room. Overall, this was a great experience for us. It was exactly what we needed! We would stay here again without a doubt!

My family had a wonderful 6 day stay at the Harbor Beach Resort. The staff was very helpful and anything we asked for was promptly delivered. I requested a room away from the elevators and was given a nice north facing room with partial ocean views as well as the city skyline and the intracoatal waterway. Watching the thunderstorms coming over the city and the lightning was awesome. Also a request for a refrigerator was filled in an hour or so and delivered to my room at no extra charge to me. The concierge was helpful and giving me discount tickets to area sights and restaurant suggestions, as well as handling things like postage stamps and mailing postcards. Lastly, my kids had a great time on the beach and the pool. This is my first time to the Ft Lauderdale area and I would definitely return again, and stay at the Harbor Beach Resort!

Stayed here on our honeymoon 6/27/04 - 7/3/04. As soon as we pulled up in our rented convertible, top down of course, the magic began. When we got to the front desk my wife began to chat with the manager. I will get his name and give it out because he was remarkable. Well, she told him that we just got married and that we were here on our honeymoon. Without hesitation and without question he upgraded us to an ocean front high floor room as "a wedding present from him and the Marriott" nice touch! Beautiful room, great view of the beach, ocean and sunrise. Terrace, immaculate room, king size bed and super friendly staff...what a great honeymoon. This Marriott is steps from the beach and never more than a dozen people at any time the whole week. Plenty to do here...parasailing, kayak, sailing, jet skis. Prices a little higher than out of the resort but it's a few steps away and was worth the few extra bucks for the convenience. The pool was fabulous. Never had to search for chairs, plenty of towels and although there were mostly families and a lot of children the pool is big enough so that if you sat at the deep end you could easily take a nap...zzzzzzzz. We splurged and took the couples massage at the Spa. Not cheap but well worth it. You get to use all the Spas amenities, private pool, jacuzzi, whirlpool, steamroom and gym all day included in the price of the massage. I can't say enough about this hotel and will be back very soon. If you do stay check out "Durty Harrys". The consierge recommended it and how could you go wrong with 10 cent wings everyday after 4pm and more than a dozen ice cold drafts available. We went there 3 times. If anyone has any questions please email me. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible... Sandy - LLVIS27@aol.com.
