“Best beachfront hotel away from the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

The hotel's elegant style is inviting, with first class accommodations and service, a very good restaurant and a spa; the ideal place to relax, unwind and refresh. It is a wonderful honeymoon getaway, or, as my parents often did, chose to begin and end their cruise ship experiences with (the cruise ships are nearby, a quick and easy taxi ride away).

The hotel and its surroundings are spacious so be prepared to do a lot of walking and exploring. Although most of the beachfront hotels are across the street from the more populated beach, this elegant hotel is sequestered away from the main road and busier beaches. The soft, sandy, spacious beach is sequestered away enough from the main beaches and roads so that you feel as if you are on your own private hotel beach. If you prefer a more populated, sand-free setting, the Marriott has an enormous beautiful outdoor pool with a casual outdoor pool restaurant.

You can spend a week at this hotel without traveling anywhere else, but if you do want to venture out, take a short drive north on Ocean Blvd. and turn west on Las Olas. The street is filled with high-end shops and restaurants of all tastes and price ranges, from inexpensive to exhorbitant.

Room Tip: If you secure a beachfront view, especially in the cooler winter months, you can shut off the A/C an...

The hotel was beautiful, (we got the wrong room, but got a leave in bed) the air was perfect and the facilities was very good. The hotel was located right to the beach were you could rent sun beds and umbrellas, you could also choose the pool area who was huge and very nice. Total rating of the hotel is excellent.

But the beach restaurant pulls down the score a bit. The service at the beach restaurant was horrible! They sent us the wrong check, not twice but tree times. They also gave us the food that was attended for the table beside us. Not recommended to order food from the beach either, the food never came and we had to pay for it. (we did not get any apologies)

But I will defiantly book the hotel again.

My wife & I had planned a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale for our 30th Anniversary. I wanted to find a nice romantic place for pre and post cruise. I researched the hotels in the area and chose the Harbour Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. This is a beautiful upscale hotel. The property was imaculate. Location is right on their private beach. Beautiful pool, and great service. We had booked inside rooms but each time we were upgraded to ocean view balcony. The rooms are smaller than I thought they might be but certainly big enough. The beds were heavenly. I woke up early the one morning and watched our cruise ship sail into the port. Post cruise we arrived at 11.00 AM & they let us leave our bags with the bell captain and we enjoyed the pool. Our room was ready less than an hour later. We spent our last day in Florida playing in the ocean & pool.
We never had to pay for parking because we arrived by taxi but the rate for valet is expensive so plan for that. Also the restaurant prices are on the high side. We ate 2 meals on property so it was OK for us since we were sightseeing in the area & ate elsewhere for the most part.
Even though our children are grown we did enjoy watching the movies that the played at poolside on the Friday & Saturday nights. If we were to return to this area we would likely stay at this resort again.
The weekend we were there the hotel was hosting a pharmacist convention. This probably resulted in a little bit of overcrowding but I felt the resort handled it well. It did slow the service at one of the restaurants for us but it was no big deal.

Excellent oceanfront location, with large private beach, and a wonderful, large pool. Walking distance to a nice boulevard with many restaurants. Starbucks on site. Modest size family room, with fantastic ocean view. Business hotel, with predictable rooms, and additional charges for parking, wifi etc, so overall not great value for family trip. However, a wonderful stay, and especially the kids would have loved to stay and play a bit longer.

Our rooms not only overlooked the roof, but were apparently above a restaurant with hideous grilled onion curry scent all day and night. Front doors heavy and doormen let the door hit you when you are carrying a baby and holding a toddler's hand. Parking garage often too full and required valet. You pay every time you come and go, so there went my plans to take kids to playgrounds offsite once or twice a day (they have nothing for young kids, only older). Really odd and bad hostess service the first night at the pool restaurant. Pool is decent but too crowded. Spa is excellent. Riva breakfast buffet and servers were wonderful, management there was odd and hesitant to take my compliments or pass on my tip for a great server I had earlier.

Internet did not work in either of our rooms the ENTIRE time. We had two rooms.

There was also a large group of traveling Argentine girls who were singing/shouting in unison loudly at the pool (I mean like 100 people - the pool is huge) for over an hour one afternoon and management didn't say a thing. It was surreal.

This property has so much potential, but Marriott needs to spend on some upgrades. Unfortunately, we will be back for the FPA conference again next year in July. I really hope the hotel has gotten better organized by then. My husband and I used to own a boutique hotel and I know it is a huge task to manage such a large property, but surely it can be done better than this by Marriott...

We are going to the JW Marriott in Houston/Galleria in a couple of weeks. I hope it is better than our stay at this location.

P.S. Great breeze on the beach. Water rough. Sand dark and 'large.' We live on the other coast, where the sand is like fine sugar. The breeze was stronger here, though.

Room Tip: You do NOT want a room over the restaurant exhaust. Ask for an ocean view.

Excellent location .

This hotel is a resort with access to the beach. Very good location. Close to many eating joints.

The pool is excellent. There is also a kids play center near the pool. The hotel itself is excellent.

We ordered a burger as room service and it was delicious.

The hotel is very close to supermarkets and restaurants.

Front desk staff is very friendly.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
