My family stayed here on May 2, 2007 before our cruise. Check in was super quick and friendly. The hotel is a bit worn in places. The room was clean and comfy. Hands down the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in. We had a balcony overlooking the port. We could see the back of our ship the next morning from our balcony. My daughter loved sitting on the balcony watching the airplanes that were taking off.

The pool was clean, warm and refreshing. Plenty of towels to go around. We had dinner at the pool bar in our suits. Yes, it's a expensive but that was to be expected. The food was quick and delicious. Staff very friendly.

I wouldn't hesistate to stay here again before a cruise as long as I could get a good rate. It will be absolutely fabulous after the renovations.

we stayed at the Grande both before and after our april 2007 cruise. The location to the cruise port is wonderful and a very easy cab ride from the airport. Yes there is renovations going on but nothing that got in the way of enjoying our stay. You do see a bit of wear here and there but the room was very clean and I must say the staff was very, very friendly(something I have stopped expecting in larger cities). The beds and bedding make for a great nights sleep and the kids even made a comment on the comfy beds.(age 20, 18, and 8) the grounds are well kept and the board walk around the harbor is very enjoyable, it is fun to check out the yachts docked there. the pool was very warm and clean and they always had towels waiting for you after your dip.

The one down side would be the food......we ate at the pool side bar and grill and the food was costly and not all that wonderful for the price. A simpler selection for around the pool at a more friendly price would have been great. (order take out or hop on the free shuttle to the beach and grab some nachos?! ) The help at the bar and grill were so nice it took the sting out of the price. In the morning grab a starbucks in the lobby......It is worth it as the gal working is so nice. For the location we will be staying there again.

When we arrived at the Fort Lauderdale Grande, we were greeted by the bellman who helped us with a rather large package we wanted to keep safe; he was very friendly and helpful. We checked in at the front desk, the clerk was friendly and quick. Our room was clean, spacious and had a great view of the marina area. We sat on the private deck and enjoyed the evening. The outdoor bar area has a great atmosphere, good food and tasty drinks! The pool and hot tub area was also very nice. We did not use it, but the workout room looked well equipped with many machines and room for many to exercise comfortably. The location was close to the beach and easy to find. Our experience was a good one; if ever in the Fort Lauderdale area, I would highly recommend it.

We recently stayed at the Fort Lauderdale Grande prior to a cruise. We got a great rate through Travelzoo and had stayed there previously when it was the Marriott. The Grounds of this hotel are really beautiful and it's in a prime location. Cab fare from the airport was $15 and was $6 per person going to the port. The hotel is currently under renovation, but this did not effect our stay. The lobby and pool areas are very inviting. The bed was luxurious and so were the bathroom amenities and coffee. Our room badly needed updating. The view from our balcony was fantastic and we spent probably more time on the balcony than in other hotels. We walked a little bit and across the street to Walgreens to pick up any pre-cruise necessities. Hotel staff were very friendly. My only complaint was that the room was dirtier than I would have liked - the bedsheets were clean, but carpets and furniture badly needed some spot-cleaning and shampooing. Hallways were also dark and hot. Our A/C did not cool down to really cold temps, but we wound up opening up the balcony door as it was in the 70's while we were there at night and the fresh air was really pleasant. It was $9.99 additional for internet access.

We ate at the pool bar and food and service was good, but pricey. Breakfast buffet was $17 per person, but we just bought muffins at the Walgreens when we were there and had them with coffee in our room.

As this hotel is being renovated, it will be a real gem when it's completed. I will stay there again if the price isn't too high.
