We stayed at this hotel for two nights before a cruise in Feb. We got a great price as they had lowered their rates due to remodeling being done at the hotel. The remodeling was not disturbing at all, but the tower is still completely closed due to hurricane damage. I would like to stay in the tower next time on a high floor, as the views from our building were of the bridge and we were unable to see our ship. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the pool bar was a great spot for having a beer and meeting friends. There was a Walgreens two blocks away, as well as several restaurants within walking distance, so a car or cab was not required.

I would stay there again!

  • Liked — Location, Balcony, Pool Bar
  • Disliked — All rooms on lower floors until tower is remodeled.

Very nice hotel - I was extremely impressed with the plush, comfortable beds and pillows. If all Marriott hotels have these beds and pillows, I will definitely consider staying at Marriott hotels for my business trips. Friendly and helpful staff, pool and workout room were very nice - I liked the outside bar/eating area by the pool. Beautiful yachts parked next to the hotel added to the scenery.

This place is horrible. A dumpy former Marriott with all the tell-tale signs of a dismal '70s era hotel.

I've been given the excuse, "We're under rennovation" for everything from dirty rooms, uncleaned rooms, no food choices, lack of liquor choices, etc. etc. etc.

They should not be open until this place is done, and even then it will not make up for the tiny rooms, tinier bathrooms and cheerfully clueless staff.

A nightmare--dirty, smelly and just plain awful.

PS I don't have any photos, but just imagine the nastiest Marriott in the world--that's what it looks like.

  • Liked — Gee, what's best about a dirty 1970s former Marriott?
  • Disliked — It's filthy, and no one cares--"We're under rennovation", like that's my fault!!!!

Rooms were extra clean and beds were amazingly comfortable. Off the beach strip, but right on the trolley route, water taxi route and hotel has a shuttle (at specific times through the afternoon) to get you to and from the beach. Hotel staff worked hard to please. Food & drink at the outdoor restaurant over-priced compared to what you can get elsewhere, but the food was very good. If you don't want to go out, it's a fine alternative. We liked just hanging at the pool. This hotel did not seem to attract smaller children (which worked for us.) There are walkways through the marina and would likely be difficult to have youngsters as they'd need constant supervision. Walking distance to just a few restaurants. Really have to taxi or other if you want to get out. Before the trip the consierge had suggested that we not rent a car - $12 short taxi ride from airport. Parking is $22/day. And if you go anywhere in Fort Lauderdale, you're paying for more parking. 50 cent trolley can take you anywhere you're going. Great off-the-path hotel.

The hotel offers a great location and really nice rooms. However, the main tower is under complete construction. There was plenty of parking, but it cost $15/day - pretty pricey!
