“Perfect comfy hotel in Fort Lauderdale”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2007

Rooms were extra clean and beds were amazingly comfortable. Off the beach strip, but right on the trolley route, water taxi route and hotel has a shuttle (at specific times through the afternoon) to get you to and from the beach. Hotel staff worked hard to please. Food & drink at the outdoor restaurant over-priced compared to what you can get elsewhere, but the food was very good. If you don't want to go out, it's a fine alternative. We liked just hanging at the pool. This hotel did not seem to attract smaller children (which worked for us.) There are walkways through the marina and would likely be difficult to have youngsters as they'd need constant supervision. Walking distance to just a few restaurants. Really have to taxi or other if you want to get out. Before the trip the consierge had suggested that we not rent a car - $12 short taxi ride from airport. Parking is $22/day. And if you go anywhere in Fort Lauderdale, you're paying for more parking. 50 cent trolley can take you anywhere you're going. Great off-the-path hotel.

The hotel offers a great location and really nice rooms. However, the main tower is under complete construction. There was plenty of parking, but it cost $15/day - pretty pricey!

My boyfriend and I stayed two nights at the Fort Lauderdale Grande prior to leaving on a cruise. The hotel was under construction but that did not affect our stay at all. The Yacht club provided gorgeous harbour views and we throughly enjoyed the many yachts to look at. It was like our own private Boat Show. The pool bar food was good and service was friendly. Prices were average. Hotel room had nice bed/bedding and room was very clean. I would rate it a 4+ star for sure. Proximity to port was great and free shuttle service was a big bonus. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. I would stay here again without question. Highly recommend it!

This hotel is undergoing renovation due to a Hurricane, however we had a wonderful experience even though we had read some bad experiences here during december and january. Much has improved and when this renovation is done this will be the greatest hotel in lauderdale. The only reason I didn't rate excellent is we did have one morning when they had to turn off the electric and hot water, but by then we were off to the beach and who cares by then. The staff went out of their way to be attentive. The resturant for breakfast was nice. There were numerous resturants within walking distances on the water. The room and bed were very comfortable. the refrigerator was a surprize. the pool is gorgeous, and hot tub...no kiddie pool which I loved. We kept the tiki bar very busy and they had the greatest bartenders who were always willing to assist in recommending what to do in the area. All the food served was delicious. The water taxi was right there which brings you anywhere you need to; so don't rent a car. We didn't but there were complaints for the overnight guest parking at $22/night.

Good value from internet (travelzoo.com); however I would guess those using the internet packages automatically are placed in the older sections of the hotel. Convenient to Port. Take taxi to port if boarding a cruise line. Very convenient to water taxi up and down waterway. The evening shuttle schedule should not necessarily be trusted for designated pick up and drop off times. As the evening goes on the shuttles become crowded and off schedule somewhat. If you have a reservation to a location realize this may be a concern.

The staff bend over backwards to accomodate. A map of the facilities would be helpful in order to enjoy the amenities without having to asking the front desk for directions each time. We could not find the fitness gym and swimming pool area.

I picked this hotel for a pre-cruise stay. Got in late evening. We got to sit on the deck and have a drink and a great burger. Service was good and friendly. The tower of the hotel is closed, but got a nice harborview room. The beds were so wonderful, I could think of nothing else on my cruise.. The hotel is nicely located. Right across the street from Port Everglades. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast buffet was nice. Got a cab, and off to my cruise. Will stay here again.

We booked the Ft Lauderdale Grande for a one night stay before our recent cruise when I realized I could get it at the bargain rate of $139 since it was undergoing construction. I had been considering this hotel at their then basic rate of $199 which is still good for Ft Lauderale hotel near port Everglades and convenient to the airport. Because we checked in early, we had a limitted selection of rooms. It is the tower section which is now under construction, so we were in the low rise section. We had a view of the cruise port (and the heavy traffic on the bridge). After seeing the grounds I would have preferred a room overlooking the beautiful pool courtyard and secluded marina. We enjoyed a quiet dinner and drink at the marina bar & grill - simple menu but great Florida ambiance. The breakfast buffet was great. Because we had a special rate, our modest room was a good value. I liked this hotel for courtesy of the employees, great location and beautiful marina. I know the rates will skyrocket when their renovations are completed, too bad, because I would love to go back
