The Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club is set amongst the charm of the Intracoastal Waterway. We are a family of 4, with children aged 12 and 15. We stayed 4 nights with the first night being free using Hilton HHonors Points. This hotel just finished renovations in March 08 and is very chic and modern. The traveler photos posted on TripAdvisor must have been before renovations as they do not look anything like the hotel is now. This hotel is expertly run by Hilton and all Hilton HHonors benefits apply. We are Hilton Silver VIP Members and got a free upgrade to a Tower Waterway View Room. It was very large and luxurious. The bathroom is quite interesting in that the shower door does not close off the shower. Half of the shower was open-air! You can even set the shower to "rainforest ceiling" flow! The LG flat screen TV is a nice touch to the room's tasteful amentities. Our Tower Room balcony offered the most gorgeous views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the multi-million dollar yachts that were docked there. The hotel pool is very nice and clean. The fitness center has numerous amounts of different machines making it more than adequate. The hotel pool bar, G, was very nice and the food was outstanding. Our waiter, Vivek, was very helpful and knowledgeable. They had sandwiches, salads, and fish. And to top it all off, amazing Key Lime Pie. The lobby bar, Antea, had light snack items and coffee and bakery items in the morning for breakfast. The Grande Club is owned by LXR Resorts and is the sister property of the Hyatt Pier Sixty-Six. You can go and use all the facilities, including tennis and spa, at the Hyatt right over the causeway. The Hyatt was more family-oriented and had more of a bustling resort type feel to it, which can be better OR worse depending on what you are looking for on vacation. For convenience and as a money saver, Einstein Bros Bagels was within walking distance, as well as Starbucks, and Walgreens. The hotel was just a couple of minutes away by car to some awesome restaurants on the 17th Street Causeway. The beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach was about 5 minutes away by car. We preferred being away from the hustle and bustle of the beach hotels. Parking at the hotel was $19 a night for self parking and $23 for valet. The concierge was very helpful (especially Liliana). The main restaurant is called the China Grill, but we didn't eat there so I can't comment on it. The lobby was very modern and fancy and the reception staff was helpful. Overall, we had an excellent stay and are ready to return to the Grande Club.

  • Liked — The views of the Intracoastal Waterway
  • Disliked — Ultra-modern shower.

Spent one fabulous night at this gorgeous hotel. We travel frequently and chose this property because of reviews here, proximity to the pier (we were leaving for a cruise the next day), and to gain honors points.
We were not disappointed! Actually Hilton should model their other properties against this one, especially the professionalism of their staff. They were pleasant and charming from the moment we walked in. Eli was eager to do anything possible for us-and we didn't even need anything!
The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and every detail taken care of. We had a terrace with spectacular views.
We had a drink in the lobby bar and also ate at the adjoining restaurant, China Grill.
We loved everything about our stay and would definitely return!

  • Liked — The decor was beautiful. The close proximity to the pier. The excellent service.
  • Disliked — There were no negatives.

My wife and I stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Grande for 4 days and 3 nights in early April. We were looking for a little rest and relaxation, but at a place where we could still enjoy modern luxury and sophistication. I am happy to say that the Grande came through on all counts. I understand that the hotel had been renovated last year and our room as well as all of the common areas, both inside and outside, were beautiful. As mentioned by other visitors, the staff across the board was very courteuous, helpful, and fun, a pleasant suprise from some other places where I had difficulty getting the staff to smile (no reflection on my sense of humor of course). We also ate at the new restaurant on the premises, China Grill. We found the dinner to be not very intimate owing to the size of the restaurant and the fact that it was pretty loud in there, but we were dining with another couple and it proved to be a good choice for what we were looking for that night. However, I would say the restaurant was more "fun" than "romantic". All in all, my wife and I were fans of the Grande and I would enjoy going there again for pleasure or business travel.

We arrived at the Fort Lauderdale Grand feeling a little depressed after having been on a fabulous caribbean cruise that we did not want to end, However after arriving at the Hotel and being greeted by some very cheerful bellboys/valets things continued to improve, the reception staff are very accommodating and friendly, the concierge staff were also very very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We then went to our room which was a tower suite, these rooms had obviously been recently refurbished to a very very high standard, beautiful furniture, stunning views, lovely soft towels in the bathroom, unfortunately no robes but on reading a previous review it appears that maybe you have to request them.

The pool menu was a little limited, but the food was very good. There are several shops/restaurants nearby HOWEVER, do not be tempted to go to the 'Authentic french bakery' on the opposite side of the road, it is very expensive, for two little cakes and two basic coffees we paid almost $24 the owner/manageress is a very surly unfriendly French woman, she followed us around whilst we were deciding which (rather stale) pastry to choose and made us feel thoroughly uncomfotable, whilst we were eating our pastry we saw several people come in and leave hastily without purchasing anything. Dont waste your cash in this establishment especially as there are so many good food outlets in the area.

The water taxi pick up point is 1 minutes walk from the hotel, the people who drive these boats are very very funny and can keep you smiling throughout the 3 plus hours journey if you choose to do the whole trip, this costs $13 and you can hop on and off as many times as you like.

The girl that places the towel on the (luxurious) sun loungers is very friendly and obliging, she changes the towels without having to be asked, ensuring that when you come out of the pool you have a lovely dry towel waiting for you.

I would have to say that I couldn't find a single thing to complain about, and as we travel a lot and stay in luxury hotels that is quite an achievement for the Grand!.
Thank you to all staff for making our stay so fabulous

Stayed 4 nights 1st week of April ;Hotel newly renovated, great furniture, comfortable bed, nice slippers. Staff helpful & accomadating. Shower was wonderful but keep eye on water leaks out on floor, put mat down. 8th floor room facing port & bridge, lots of action but peaceful. Only downside is breakfast buffet at China Grill, not worth the money & very RUDE staff and very poor service. Within walking distance to Einstein Bagels, Starbucks, and other breakfast cafe's. The place to stay in Fort Lauderale.
