The Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club is set amongst the charm of the Intracoastal Waterway. We are a family of 4, with children aged 12 and 15. We stayed 4 nights with the first night being free using Hilton HHonors Points. This hotel just finished renovations in March 08 and is very chic and modern. The traveler photos posted on TripAdvisor must have been before renovations as they do not look anything like the hotel is now. This hotel is expertly run by Hilton and all Hilton HHonors benefits apply. We are Hilton Silver VIP Members and got a free upgrade to a Tower Waterway View Room. It was very large and luxurious. The bathroom is quite interesting in that the shower door does not close off the shower. Half of the shower was open-air! You can even set the shower to "rainforest ceiling" flow! The LG flat screen TV is a nice touch to the room's tasteful amentities. Our Tower Room balcony offered the most gorgeous views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the multi-million dollar yachts that were docked there. The hotel pool is very nice and clean. The fitness center has numerous amounts of different machines making it more than adequate. The hotel pool bar, G, was very nice and the food was outstanding. Our waiter, Vivek, was very helpful and knowledgeable. They had sandwiches, salads, and fish. And to top it all off, amazing Key Lime Pie. The lobby bar, Antea, had light snack items and coffee and bakery items in the morning for breakfast. The Grande Club is owned by LXR Resorts and is the sister property of the Hyatt Pier Sixty-Six. You can go and use all the facilities, including tennis and spa, at the Hyatt right over the causeway. The Hyatt was more family-oriented and had more of a bustling resort type feel to it, which can be better OR worse depending on what you are looking for on vacation. For convenience and as a money saver, Einstein Bros Bagels was within walking distance, as well as Starbucks, and Walgreens. The hotel was just a couple of minutes away by car to some awesome restaurants on the 17th Street Causeway. The beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach was about 5 minutes away by car. We preferred being away from the hustle and bustle of the beach hotels. Parking at the hotel was $19 a night for self parking and $23 for valet. The concierge was very helpful (especially Liliana). The main restaurant is called the China Grill, but we didn't eat there so I can't comment on it. The lobby was very modern and fancy and the reception staff was helpful. Overall, we had an excellent stay and are ready to return to the Grande Club.
