Stayed at the fort Lauderdale Grande for 3 nights during spring break. The location is super; close to the beach and Las Olas, water taxi makes a stop at the hotel. Renovations seemed to have been completed, with the exception of a few workmen on the deck outside the lobby on our first day there. The property looks fresh and inviting. Our room was beautiful, and one of the best smelling hotel rooms I've ever been in. There was a very fresh, clean smell to the room; not like disinfectant or cleaners, but a pleasant "beachy-oceany" fragrance. The view of the Intercoastal Waterway from our balcony was lovely; very relaxing to gaze out across the water and see the city lights in the evenings. Oddly, we didn't get any clean towels when our room was cleaned on the second day. They appeared on the third day, which wasn't a real inconvenience, but it was puzzling. The rain shower is a real treat, but beware of water that puddles at the shower threshold. Put down a lot of towels, because you could easily slip in the water that accumulates.
There was some sort of glitch in the parking set-up. We opted not to use valet, parking but to park in the self-park lot. Your room key card is supposed to open the gate, but it didn't work until our last day. We had to call for help from the bellman. Everyone we talked to seemed "confused" about our dilemma. I got the feeling they were trying to steer us towards using the valet parking. You are charged $19.00 a day for parking, so this annoyed us a bit.
We didn't eat in any of the restaurants, but got two glasses of wine from the bar. At $11.00 a pop, we decided to go to the grocery store and buy our own bottle the next day. There's a Publix not far from the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay very much; friendly staff, easy check in and out. Gorgeous views, clean rooms, great location.
