We tremendously enjoyed our stay at this beautfiul resort and lamented our departure. The outdoor facilities were extraordinarily family-oriented---there was something there for everyone in our large, multi-generational family. We loved having the beach a stone's throw away and reveled in the opportunity to hone our putting skills at mini golf, practice our chess and shuffleboard games and learn ping pong. The children's play ground and nearby hammocks were always in use! The ships coming in and out of the channel added an extra dimension of intrigue. We marvelled at the lush landscaping all over Lago Mar and at the gorgeous and hospitable public areas. The grounds were so well-thought out and encompassing, we spent every day outside from morning to dusk (without a mosquito bite, too!!).
Our spacious suite was equally impressive. The king sleeper sofa was a hit with the kids (who usually draw imaginary lines down the center to claim their half of the bed). The kitchen, though spartanly furnished (we would have had difficulty preparing and serving a meal, other than a sandwich) was a pleasant surprise, with its nice refrigerator and compact oven. The furniture was a great change from the typical "hotel type" furnishings and amazingly comfortable, too. The magazines on the coffee table were an incredibly thoughtful touch.
The beds were extraordinarily inviting with their down comforters, pillow-top surface and varied selection of pillows. Housekeeping was quickly responsive with requests for blankets/lightbulbs and extra cutlery. The blackout curtains really did darken the room and the A/C was quiet and unobtrusive. The outdoor chaise lounges on the patio provided another venue for rest and relaxation.
Our children were thrilled to be able to have a spacious and comfy retreat after a long day outside and were eager to order room service. My husband and I were thrilled to be able to dine on fine food, in the room. Housekeeping was quick to pick up our dirty dishes and very cordial.
Our family loved the selection of reasonably-priced, family-oriented movies and found it difficult to choose one, so we watched a different show every day! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and fresh-squeezed orange juice, trips to the soda shop and lunches & cocktails at the Promenade. The bellhops and valet service were extraordinarily helpful, eager to assist and knowledgeable-- they set a insurmountably high level of expectation at the onset of our stay and everyone else delivered equally courteous service!
I enjoyed a wonderful massage and relaxing visit to the Spa.. The lounge is restful with magazines, fresh fruit, water and tea providing nice touches.
The hotel is beautiful and immaculately maintained. I observed the owners interacting with staff on numerous occasions and encouraging them to help take care of the property. The attention detail really shines here! Our family enjoyed every inch of this outstanding property-and were even able to do our laundry in the complimentary washer/dryers before coming home. The front desk staff was accommodating and welcoming and graciously gave us a late check out.. We'll return again---and again.

This was our third visit to Fort Lauderdale's best kept secret - Lago Mar, and once again, we can't say enough about it. We always feel so comfortable and pampered! Always a treasure, always a pleasure....peaceful, beautiful, immaculate, accommodating. We just can't find a more wonderful and perfect place to have a beach vacation. I know we will continue to return to Lago Mar.

Everything about our stay at Lago Mar was perfect, but what sets it apart from the rest is definitely its service. ALL of the staff were helpful, engaged with our needs, solicitous and well mannered. This is an old school hotel where you will feel at home the minute yuo walk into the lobby. The rooms are clean, the decor has a perfect combination of elegance and relaxation, and the hotel services and activities (pools, mini-golf, checkers, recreation area for kids, tennis courts) are all superb.

Another excellent feature of the hotel is its location. It is right on the beach (no need to cross the street to get there, as happens with ost beachfront hotels in the area), and in an area where the beach is almost private. The hotel is also very close to Las Olas boulevard where you can find a diverse range of shops, restaurants art galleries and other fun activities.
