We just returned from a wonderful trip to the Lago Mar. It is the perfect family resort. The grounds are beautiful. I felt like I was in the Caribbean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The best part of the resort is the old fashioned charm. It is not at all like the other modern high rise resorts in Ft. Lauderdale. Yes, the Lago Mar is a bit older, but that helps to contribute to the ambience. We had a one bedroom suite. While it is in the older building, the room was still very nice and spotless.
The only glitch we encountered was a mistake on the bill. They overcharged us by four hundred dollars for our breakfast!! Luckily, we caught the error and they corrected it right away. Always double check the itemized area on the final bill.
I highly recommend the Lago Mar. I just hope they don't tear it down and turn it into an impersonal high rise resort.

We just returned from a 2 night stay at Lago Mar. Our group included parents, grandparent, and 5 kids (15, 13, 12,10 and 10) We were worried seeing some of the reviews about the quality of rooms, but were happily surprised with the resort. Our rooms were lovely, and the resort beautiful. The outside areas were especially nice with lovely plantings and landscaping. The beach was probably the nicest we have seen. After driving north and seeing the "strip" of beach next to the road, we were especially glad we opted for Lago Mar. Lots and lots of families with young children. Shuffle board, putt putt, volleyball and pools. The resort even had pails and shovels they will lend you to use on the beach. Overall the resort had an old-fashioned family feel. The breakfast buffet with made to order pancakes and omlets as well as fresh fruit and breads was a steal at $6 for kids 13 and under! The beach grill was convenient, but the food was so so at best. If in Ft. Lauderdale again, we will definitely return.

Lago Mar is a lovely family beachfront resort with wonderful atttentive staff.
The accomodations are spacious, clean and oceanfront!
We were so impressed by the staff and their kind demeanor and
consistent care for guests, it is not the norm anywhere anymore.
The pools are fun, the outdoor dining tasty and the weather in
Fort Lauderdale was great.
The location is good; beachfront away from the riff raff and close
enough to hit Publix's and Starbucks..
We would love to stay at Lago Mar again.
The management and staff should be reognized for a well run
well trained organization!!

Perfect resort! What a great beachfront property .We stayed in a one bed two bath full kitchen suite and for the price I couldn't imagine anyone could complain. I have stayed at plenty of Ritz and Four Seasons and none of them would give you the space for this beachfront property. The staff was very nice and accomodating. Service was quick and always with a smile. It seemed as if the staff actually enjoyed their jobs. They kept the grounds clean and even though they were booked to capacity you never felt like you had to wait or that you were on top of others. The kids could roam free and with so many actvities they could never be bored. There were a lot of kids to meet and play with of all different ages. My children (14 and 8) were with 5 other cousins and were always entertained with putt putt, volleyball, ping pong, shuffleboard and a gorgeous beach and two pools. The staff was great to the kids and that made for a perfect 10 night spring break for their parents.
