During my last stay at the Lago Mar my 20 year old daughter proudly told all the guests she spoke with that her mother had been coming to the Lago Mar for 40 years. This says it all. Guests at the Lago Mar love to brag about how long their family has been coming to the hotel. The Banks family, owners of the hotel, has always made us feel welcome and right at home. The property is lovely without a stuffy feeling. This makes it just right for a relaxing week or two at the beach.I have never felt so safe at a hotel. This can be a concern when your children are young. The beach is quiet and never crowded. It just takes one walk down to the public beach past several major hotels to make you realize just how lucky you are. We love to walk down to Port Everglades and watch the ships come in. The three generations of my family will make their annual trek to the Lago Mar this June. It is a fabulous family beach destination.

Previous year stayed at one of Fort Lauderdale other resort hotel. Could not get accomadations. My 17 year old son found the hotel on the internet. Best choose ever made. We stayed in one of the suites for a week and the staff and accomadations were top notch.
The suite had a king sized bed with a beauiful marble bathroom. The seperate bedroom also had it's own balcony. The second bedroom had it's own bathroom also with two doulbe beds. The suite also had a pull out couch. We sleep seven people comfortably.
We had 6 adults and one child and between the pools, restaurants and the city of Fort Lauderdale we had a vacation to remember. We will return back to Lago Mar Resort.

Went over school vacation with 3 teenagers. The good: Lots of activities for kids, volley ball, tennis and ping pong were favorites, laid back atmosphere, beach was clean and attractive, The bad: the rooms were clean, however they do need updating. If you get an ocean front room, request a higher floor. The ugly: I never saw anyone vacuum the pool. There was always sand at the bottom of the pools, morning and night. There were times when there was a platic bag and glass floating in the pool. Not sure when their cleaning time is. Food is average for this type of facility. Make sure you bring your own snacks and drinks, can get very expensive

We spent 3 days here in August and we felt like we stepped back in time about 20 years. The public areas of the hotel are quite outdated - wallpaper, furniture, rugs all need to be refurbished. We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was terrible. Food was mediocre. The pool area has some potential, but needs some major TLC. There were potted plants around the pool area with dead plants in them! Everything just seems messy and dirty. The beach is indeed a sad state - the conditions do not draw you out to even walk out on the beach. I did think the rooms were nice and functional, but it would not be enough to bring me back here again.
