My husband and I took a long weekend trip for our 4th of July. This was our first time at Largo Mar and chose it simply because of it's high ratings and also being it is one of the few resorts actually on the beach. We sprung for the Oceanfront villa and are so happy we did! Wonderful views and easy beach access. We have no children and wanted to just relax, but noticed how family friendly this resort was and even though it was flooded with families with children, they were kept so occupied by the many activities, we didn't see it as an issue at all! We must say you are definitely will pay a little extra there, but it is well worth it! The staff was amazing and warm and helpful. From Nick the concierge who hooked us up with a reliable car service (Nicky is the best!) and wonderful dinner plans (Charlies Crab) to "Betty" the beach girl who sets you up every day! She's a wonderful asset to the resort and deserves to be pointed out. Our first night we got in late so we dined at Acquario and it was truly a delicious meal! We live close to NYC so we eat out quite often and I have to say Acquario really is on par with the menu. Fair prices for the service. The promenade bar was awesome! I say much better than the Ocean Grill (I think that would be the family choice) both bartenders, Shawn and Sal are fantastic and really do aim to please!! You must ask for a "Sal Special Surprise!", it will really put you in a relaxed state! The soda shop was a nice stop for a sweet snack and the pizza's hit the spot. I found the resort over all, was very clean, and well kept. It seemed a bit outdated for the decor, but it also was very tranquil and relaxing so, it did the job! I just can't say enough good stuff about the staff and they truly made our stay memorable. From the breakfast buffet to friendly "good nights" they were incredible. The only issue I would think that was negative would be the whole beach chair/umbrella deal. This really left a bad taste in mouth. You have to pay everyday I thnk its $22 a day for two comfortable beach chairs and an umbrella and side table. Most places have this as a courtesy, but here they charged. We're still scratching our heads about that one. Thats where Betty comes in!! She's a real doll and probably understands that this is a not so nice thing to charge for. Anyway, again, it pays to do this because the so-called chairs they do supply are GROSS!! They look like they have been laying around for years and not cleaned! But, with that said, thats really the only thing I'd have to say was a thumbs down. Other than that, I'd give Largo Mar an excellent rating!! Worth every penny!

This has to be one of the best hotel experiences I have had and I grew up in the hotel business. The hotel grounds, pools, beach are beautiful and there is a lot to do. Our room was on the 5th floor with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and very helpful.

You can't do better that the Lago Mar!

We stayed at Lago Mar for 2 nights and it was fantastic! It is very family-friendly and just beautiful. The pools are wonderful (they had noodles that my two-year-old really enjoyed) and it's big enough that it never felt too crowded. She also enjoyed the little playgournd equipment on the beach. The beach is large, water refreshing, and plenty of chairs. We rented an umbrella with 2 lounge chairs for $22.50 for the entire day and it was so worth it! That sun is HOT!

As for the rooms, we had an exectuive suite. Since we wanted 2 double beds we had to stay in the main building. We were on the 2nd floor so even though we faced the pool and ocean, the palm trees from the pool obstructed our view. However, it was nice to have a private balcony! The rooms were very clean, large, and refridgerator was a good size. Only thing - there were no napkins or papertowels in kitchenette, so get some, especially if you have kids!

We booked an appointment with their photographer to have pictures taken on the beach at sunset and it was a great experience. Mike is the name of the photographer and we were really impressed by him. If you go and see his photo gallery set up with a picture of a dad throwing a little girl in the air in front of the ocean, that's my family! He wanted to use the shot in his gallery, so someone let me know if he does!

Te overall atmosphere here was really nice. We felt it compared to some of the all-inclusive resorts we've stayed at in the Carribean, only it's very expensive. We knew going in that the resort has a cash-only policy and adds 18% to every bill. We ate in the restaurant the first night because "kids eat free." The food was good - my husband had a salad and steak, I had a salad and sea bass and one gin & tonic. Bill was $115. We're from Chicago, so we've eaten at plenty of nice restaurants. We were not at all disspointed in our meal, just felt it wasn't really worth the money. One night I got a pina colada and they put the shot of rum in a test tube on top and it was $13 and change! Just a small plastic cup too. Went to the little store to get my daughter a scoop of icecream. She's two - asked for a kid size, and they said they only had one size and it was close to $5 for a scoop of sherbet. So that's really my only complaint, but if you expect that going in, it's fine.

The last two nights of our trip we stayed at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield Beach and there was just no comparing it to this place!!!

The Lago Mar is a not-so-well kept secret in Fort Lauderdale. One of the only hotels directly on a private beach ( who wants to pay $$$ to have to cross the street to go to a public beach?) This hotel has it all- charm, grace, friendly staff, tons of amenities, great food, unparalled location..
we have absolutely no complaints and will be booking again soon.
And wait til you try the fantastic bath supplies- the conditioner is incredible!

When I first arrived at the Lago Mar, I thought it was nothing special, but as my stay their grew longer, I noticed that so many things here were so well put. The first thing that I noticed was how kind and how willing the staff were to do anything that you wanted. They helped me and my mom, with our 3 bags of luggage even when the kind gentlemen had a broken arm. The rooms were very high quality, and the beds for me were very soft, and fluffy, good for sleeping, although Im not sure how it is for adults. The room comes with a beautiful view of the ocean even though your only about 50 metres away from it! Thats right, the ocean is only a 3 minute walk from the hotel to the beach, which generally has warm water, and lots of sun. The hotel has a great selection on dinery. There is a small snack bar where you can purchase sandwiches, cold drinks, and finger-foods. Even if you do not want to buy and juice or sodas, they supply a cooler, with a faucet, and icebox full of ice, and tons of plastic cups, just incase it gets to hot outside. The hotel has 2 different pools. The first one is a very large one with a very low height, for the kids who are not so sure whether they want to swim in deep water. The second pool I reccomend is for adults or 12-above years olds, because the volume of the pool is much more deeper. The hotel even has the option so that you can swim at night, because it is opened until 11'0 clock, and there is even a small shop, with shaving cream, books, sudoku puzzles, candys, small tokens of Ft.Lauderdale, and even a Ice-Cream Parlor, with around 10 flavors. OVer all I think that this hotel is a great place for large families because of the ice-cream shop, pools, and lovely rooms. This hotel is even for new- marries couples, or if your single.
