Because tripadvisor was so helpful in choosing this hotel and the places we ate, I decided to give back as much as possible by writing a review because all the reviews here made my stay all the more enjoyable.
Luckily we were able to make a reservation about a week prior with the room they had left, a One Bedroom Suite with Partial Kitchen. We stayed for two nights from August 1st to August 3rd. The check-in time is late at 4PM, but we arrived early around 12-1PM and was able to check in early because the room was ready! The German guy who checked us in was really nice and we were really glad we were able to check-in early.
We were really pleased with the nice, clean room. It felt really homey. We felt so comfortable there, the vacation felt a little surreal. It has an old Floridian style. If you're looking for a modern, every other hotel look like the Hilton, then you'll be disappointed. The TV had cable along with other channels like HBO. There was an N64 type system that I guess the kids can use as entertainment, but I think that's an extra charge added to the room. Our bedroom was really nice and the bed was really soft. We liked our bed but if you prefer something more firm, you might be disappointed. In between the bedroom and our full bathroom was a closet with a safe, robes for us to use, extra pillows and blanket, and hangers. The full bathroom had concave vanity mirrors along with a hair dryer, besides what is expected to be there: soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. There was a partial bathroom that came with the basics. The free wireless internet was very helpful to us also. The partial kitchen included utensils, plates, bowls, and cups. It had a sink with dish washing liquid, a coffee maker with amenities, and a microwave which we did use often along with the small fridge. Next to the partial kitchen was a small dining table that had four chairs and a living room with a big flat screen TV. Our room had a balcony with a nice view of the beach.
We took the most advantage of the private beach with it's clear and warm waters. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, but of course this will be charged to the room also. We were fine with our towels there and no one touched our belongings on our towel. We regret not bringing snorkeling gear to see more of the fishes we saw with our goggles. One thing we did was get up early to see the sunrise. It was really beautiful to see the sunrise over the clear waters of Florida.
We tried the deeper pool (one can call it the adult pool, because it's as deep as 9 feet) and it was ok, but we preferred the beach / ocean more. The miniature golf course there was fun. We didn't take advantage of the room service or had them clean our room, so I can't review the service in this aspect.
With the rest of the hotel, we didn't try the shallow lagoon "kid" pool which went around 3-4 feet deep only. We didn't take advantage of the exercise room, the business type room (I can't remember the official name but there were computers and fax machines there along with internet of course), the spa (the spa provided all of our shampoo, soap, etc.s), four tennis courts (two by the beach / miniature golf area and two on top of the 2 floor parking deck), volleyball area on the beach, table tennis, life size chess set, areas for children (playground areas, because we didn't have children with us), on site hotel restaurants, etc. The reason we didn't eat at the on-site hotel restaurants was because anything bought on the hotel premises except for the gift shop was charged to the room. Any services or food bought was also charged to the room with an additional mandatory 18% gratuity added on to it.
The hotel is in a Very quiet residential area. If you want to eat out or look around, you would most likely need to rent a car (which is what we did) or ask the concierge to get you a taxi for when you wanted to go out. One review here mentioned a Publix nearby to help save on money for food. The Publix was easy to find, only a few miles away and was in a complex with other shops. Half of our meals came from Publix which were mostly frozen or refrigerated foods that just needed to be microwaved to eat. The other places we ate, which was also found through tripadvisor, was Seasons 52 and Le Bonne Crepe. Both were very good and not far from the hotel at all. The most driving we did going one way was 5 miles.
