We stayed at Lago Mar April 1st-6th in a deluxe 1 bd executive suite.
We got lucky we were on the 4th floor on the end which gave us an ocean view. Our room was nice, very clean and spacious. We spent most of our room time sitting on the outside porch. We really enjoyed our stay there. The pool was great but lots of kids all ages. The beach was wonderful. We ate at the soda shop and the poolside bar which has typical burgers, etc. We thought the food was good. I went to the spa for a facial and really enjoyed it. Overall the staff was helpful. I liked that they never bothered us for anything unless we asked. The one thing we did not care for was the 18% gratuity that was add on to everything: drinks, foods, shakes, spa. You are not allowed to use cash so everything is charged to your room along with 18%. I think 18% is a little much for an ice cream shake this is my only complaint. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed 2 nights before and one night after taking a carribbean cruise. We would definitely return, the place was lovely, beautiful beach with the added plus of watching the cruise ships (six- eight of them) leaving on Sunday night, and all sorts of other ship traffic go by on other days from a rocky pier a short walk down the beach. Staff was amiable and very helpful. We had a room with 2 double beds for all four of us, for 265 a night. Rooms were large and airy, bathroom a little tight for the four of us. The food was very good, and we much enjoyed the outdoor patio. Children loved the facilities, with hammocks in the sand, minigolf and shuffleboard, all nicely landscaped. Great walks on beach day and night. It was Feb and the ocean was warm and shallow and clear. The food was overpriced, but quite good. Lot of good restaurants in lauderdale - overall a good trip.

We recently returned from a vacation here. The hotel did not live up to its reviews. We had a nightmare experience with the hotel and almost missed our flight home. We had an early morning flight and called for the bellhop and car from valet 15-20 minutes prior to our needing to leave. Both never arrived. After getting our luggage downstairs the valet lost our rental car. For almost a 1/2 hour, we all looked throughout the parking lot for the car. I was in a panic and the desk clerk had a very bad attitude about the whole problem.

We also had an attitude problem the night before at dinner. The waiter charged us for the wrong wine at dinner (much higher priced of course!) then told us we were mistaken and called the manager to fight over the bill. Finally they corrected it but they did not win any friends or repeat clientelle.

The room we had would have been nice enough but the plumbing was falling apart. The room stunk, literally! Housekeeping could not remove the smoking smell. They thought it was the adjoining room where the people were smoking 24/7. We kept all the windows open the entire time and the mosquitos came in at night.

The kids did enjoy the facilities but the parents suffered here.

We just returned from a week at Lago Mar. We booked a 2 bedroom suite for $490 a night. The layout was geat, 2 bedrooms with full baths, living room, kitchen, and powder room. The facility was great for the kids because we were able to have breakfast in the room, and I made easy dinners for the kids and ordered room service for my husband and I, so we did not have to worry about sitting in a restaurant with a two year old. Only one of the pools was warm enough to swim in, the other did not seem to be heated. The playground and beach were perfect. The one major weakness of the resort was housekeeping. The room was far from clean, in fact, I dusted the whole place because everytime we touched something it was dirty. In addition, the room was not made up until 3-4 o'clock in the afternoon. Way too late for my taste.
