This hotel is the best place to stay weather you have a young family like we do (girls ages 3 and 5) or you are a couple looking for a quiet get away. There are two pools. The first pool is 3'6"-4'9". It is in a horseshoe shape and has steps to enter various places. There are plenty of loungers to sit in in the sun or in the shade. The 2nd pool is 4-9ft. A bit deeper, but great for the adults to relax and to swim laps. It is quieter as the most of the kids are in the swallower pool. The rooms are HUGE. We had a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed plus a kitchenette. It wasn't even the suites and we didn't have an ocean view, but that didn't matter really. It was awesome. The staff is friendly, the beach is quiet and just steps away. It is near the Port Everglades so you see the HUGE ocean liners come in and out. We WILL be back again soon! Don't miss out on this resort. It is well worth the money for what you receive, PLUS FREE VALET AND SELF PARKING! You can't go wrong there.

Stayed here during spring vacation week from New England with wife and 11 and 15 year old daughters. We booked a suite and was impressed with the size of the unit - my best guess was in total 800-900 square feet. the master bedroom had the softess bedding i've ever had. 2 bathrooms made it easy for everyone. in suite kitchen for breakfast, etc. we ate out at a difference place each night.

the grounds were immaculate and the beach was great. employees were very polite and helpful and as another reviewer pointed out, even when the place was full, you could easily find beach chairs, poolside chairs, etc.

all but the gift shop will only charge costs to your room, so if you are used to paying cash for things, this place doesn't allow it.

i would absolutely stay here again without any hesitation at all!

Had a wonderful time. Stayed with our two kids 5 and 7 and they both had a great time. Biggest decision was to either start at the beach or the pool for the day. Very clean, nice people - mostly Northeast crowd. Cannot wait to go back.

My husband, two sons (11 and 15) and I stayed at the Lago Mar Resort April 11 to 18, 2008. It is a perfect place for families. I don't think I've ever stayed in a quieter hotel-you would expect from seeing all the children at the pool and beach to hear crying, but not a peep! The grounds are designed for families; a winding pool with lots of empty chairs (very different from other beach resorts where folks save chairs with towels starting at 7 am!), another gated pool, small playsets for toddlers with a shady spot nearby for parents watching their kids play, a very enjoyable miniature golf course, ping pong, tennis, hammocks, and of course a huge beach. I know the hotel was full the week we visited, but we never felt that there were crowds anywhere, and the hotel becomes very quiet by 9 p.m., which makes it very easy to put kids in bed! There were several extended families visiting-this would be a great place for a family reunion.

We ate at the restaurant once, and it was fine, but we also enjoyed trying a new restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale each evening. My sons had ice cream cones from the sweet shop every afternoon, and there is also a casual grill.

Our room was huge-with a mini kitchen and eating area; we ate all of our breakfasts in the room. Our sons' room was connected to our room, so we all had lots of space and privacy when we wanted it. We had a huge patio off our sliding doors, which was great for reading.

If you are traveling with children, this would be a wonderful place to keep kids occupied and happy. We will return again as soon as possible!!
