The receptionist Ms. Claudette was a lovely lady, very helpful, respectful, and very kind. Close to Fort Lauderdale Int. Airport, shopping, Freeways, Restaurants & etc. Everything was good, except that there's no fridge in the room.

My Wife and I recently stayed at the Universal Palms Hotel and was pleasently surprised about the cleanliness of the place and a, very friendly staff which was always concerned about your comfort.
The atmosphere was GREAT and we will be back!!!!
Thanks to Eddie, and the staff at the front desk, Antonio and his staff in the restaurant, and Roberto for making our stay a memorable one

Recently stayed here for a quick getaway vacation, and would definitely recommend it for good value for the price. We had absolutely no problems at check in; the front deck supervisor Joel was excellent and really understands what good customer service is truly about. The rooms were clean no complaints the only real downside here is the noise from the train at nights which could be a real problem if you’re not a heavy sleeper. Lastly the water pressure in the shower was really low at times but all in all a pretty good stay for the price.

Room Tip: Closer to the front desk the better get as far away from the train tracks as possible.

I found this hotel on BookIt.com...we have purchased hotel stays from this site before, and were very pleased (Peabody in Orlando for 89!!!), so we gave this a go. I should've known better, when it said Powerline Rd...but I figured the pictures looked nice, so what the heck. HA! Our room was pool side, which was a free upgrade. The hotel is old and needs to be stripped of all the paint coatings and taken care of. Our room smelled of musk. The floors were tile, which with the a/c being of poor worker order, made the floors slippery...not good for my 15 month old. The bathroom was worse. The tub was old and discolored. There was mold in the ceiling corners. The chain on our toilet broke at 2am after I used the bathroom and so we got to listen to running water all night long, as they don't have an onsite maintenance person during those times. I guess there was a convention of some sort, because at 430 AM there were some loud intoxicated guests outside our door laughing, joking, and having a grand old time. While the desk staff was kind...I would not be staying here again. Totally not worth my money or my sanity. Not doing that again...ever....disgusting....unkept...yet had granite counters and a vessel sink!!

The train was really loud but did NOT run all night. It only ran once between midnight and morning. The complimentary breakfast was very basic. Only cereal, bagels, juice and coffee, but it was good enough. However, I do have a word of advice: Print your email confirmation and show it upon check-in. I booked through this hotel's website for a certain price but when I checked in at the front desk, the rate charged was $8 more. Upon retreival of my email the rate was adjusted down to the amount of my confirmation.

Its a conference center. It needs to be a certain quality or it won't keep business. It has a lovely little bar with live music in the evening we stayed. The pool was gorgeous. The rooms were nice and best of all was a fine gentleman named Joel who knows the meaning of hospitality.

I stayed at this hotel during Fleet Week at the end of April 2012. Walking into the lobby and being greeted by this wonderful man named Joel :) This man went way out of his way to make our stay wonderful. We were upgraded to a pool side room after he heard my husband was in the service. It's about 10 to 15 min up the road from Port Everglades where my husbands Submarine was at.. I can't thank Joel enough for what he has done for us. Joel, if you are reading this. Charli, Jon, Alan and myself thank you for all that you have done to make our stay amazing!

Room Tip: You want to upgrade to a pool side room. DO NOT TAKE CITY VIEW! There is a train that goes by on the...
