“Not a bad place to stay when you are going on a cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

We (my 81 year old mother and I) stayed at the Embassy Suites pre (3 nights) and post (1 night) cruise. This is one of three hotels Princess Cruises uses in Fort Lauderdale so we decided to take this easy option. The hotel is close to the airport as well as the cruise ship terminal. We liked the suite option. My mother goes to bed a lot earlier than I do so I was able to close the bedroom door and watch TV in the front portion of the suite. The two sinks and mirrors in the room are great for two women getting ready in the morning.

As others have noted, the room’s décor and bathrooms are a little tired. Considering how many people are moving in and out of this hotel every night it is easy to see why. The rooms are clean and that is more important to me. My only complaint about the room on our first stay is we were facing 17th Street. I live in a quiet area so it was difficult to sleep with the traffic noise that seemed to go all through the night. On our second stay we were facing the pool and it was much quieter.

The service at the front desk was friendly and efficient. The concierge services were very helpful in finding us transportation to the Galleria Mall (retail therapy is always important on any trip) and an intracoastal waterway cruise. We aren’t fans of a big cooked breakfast so the included breakfast was perfect for us. We really enjoyed the Evening Reception. A couple of free glasses of wine was good enough for us. As my mother pointed out, “ Who care if it wasn’t the best wine in the world – it was free!” The reception was also a good opportunity to meet new people and compare cruise notes. After our couple of glasses of wine, we had dinner in the E Spot Restaurant in the hotel. Once again the service was good and we enjoyed our dinners. We highly recommend the pizza.

If I was going to Fort Lauderdale for another cruise I would definitely stay here again. I would ask for a room not facing 17th Street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that isn't facing 17th Street due to the road noise.

This is an adequate "night before" hotel for those arriving for a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. The hotel itself is dated. All rooms have high rise entrances opening within the large enclosed atrium/courtyard. Carpets are worn, rooms are spacious but the inner facing "living rooms" are dark and gloomy. Quiet enough. The happy hour reception every evening is an opportunity to get drunk on the house with free cheap wine and liquor. Food though was only salty snacks. The pool was large and impressive. Plenty of restaurants in the rear shopping area, easily walked. Water taxi is a bit of a walk, but reachable by foot. Daily breakfast was very good, with a wide variety of hot foods and typical breakfast items. All staff were pleasant and obviously trained to greet all customers with eye contact and greeting. This is not a destination hotel by itself, but a good value and convenient for cruise purposes.

This is a very nice hotel, rooms are very big, with 2 doubles beds and a living room with double sofa bed. The style is a little bit old but you forget that when you are at the bar at 5pm !! it"s bar open every night until 7pm. That's a nice way to start vacation before going on the ship. it's at 5 minutes drive to Everglade port. I really recommande this hotel. We arrived at the hotel 2 days before the cruise and we really appreciate that.

The staff was so helpful from the beginning to the end. Thanks to Lilly at the front desk, Claudia, Efi and Amy at the restaurant. Their hospitality was excellent. Great breakfast and managers hour in the evening. Pool was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We are definitely looking forward to going back and staying there very soon.

Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to shopping and dining, and Port Everglades (the hotel is crawling with cruise ship passengers). Interior is showing it's wear, and in need of updating soon (guest room as well as common area). Pool area is adequate, and a relaxing atmosphere. Manager reception average, breakfast not as good as any Embassy Suites we have stayed at. Service at this hotel is very lackluster, most of the staff we encountered seemed very disinterested in guest satisfaction -- trying to get a luggage cart here is very interesting, you'll likely be told there is only one cart available for guest's use (really? come on!) until you press the issue and then suddenly one becomes available-just not the service we expected at this brand. Parking is $18/day self park, if you want internet in room add another $9.95/day and be sure you check the bill because it charges for each device log on, they will adjust upon request at check out. If you are hungry, don't waste your time at the in-house restaurant - service here was pleasant, but the food quality does not match the price, and it is very SLOW. Overall, this was one of the least pleasant Embassy Suites stays we have had. The next time, we are going to stay at the Hilton right down the street.

Room Tip: Get an east facing room if you want a view

My company has booked several seminars at this Embassy and plans to book more! Meredith Palmer is always a joy to work with and helps ease the burden in planning the event. The staff is always kind, courteous and helpful. It is a pleasure to stay there.
