“Very Good Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

I stayed at this hotel before I left for a cruise. My overall experience was very good. The hotel is located in a convenient spot, the majority of the staff (beside the concierge) were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, and breakfast in the morning was good. I would highly recommend this hotel.

was very pleased with our stay at your hotel - our 4th visit here. we will be back and will recommend this hotel. Thank you so much for the service, the room, food and overall hospitality. The hotel is near the cruise port and that is so helpful when you are either coming for a cruise or coming back from one.

the rooms are very nice, breakfast is also very good, but there is no free internet acccess (aside of kiosks in the lobby which are almost unusable due to low speed), paid access 10 USD per day, location not too nice - on a busy street and two miles from the beaches

We really enjoyed this hotel. We chose two rooms overlooking the port on floor 9. As we checked in, we saw a few signs of renovations, but it looked as though it was pretty much complete. The managers reception was awesome! The bar area looked remodeled. They provided drinks, chips and dip, popcorn, and snack mix. It was kept clean and stocked. You could hang out indoors or out. Very nice. Pool was heated and very nice for a January visit. There were always pool chairs available.

Our room was great. We received a snack basket for being a Hilton Honors member. A nice touch. The cooked to order breakfast line was never long and overall a great breakfast experience included in the price of the room. Embassy Suites always has a great breakfast. Area is clean and nice. It looks like it has been remodeled also. We loved the separate TV/living room area. The kids slept on the pull out couch. It wasn't too comfortable and we asked for a pillow top for it, but they don't have them. The couch is fine for kids, but it would be very uncomfortable for an adult.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION: It is very close to all kinds of shopping. The trolley to the beach was easy and efficient. You walk about 1/4 mile to trolley stop at Publix grocery store. The price for the trolley is now increased to a dollar one way. It used to be 50 cents. It will take you to beach, mall, hotels, etc.

We could see all the ships from our balcony in the evenings and mornings. So nice and got us excited. We stayed 2 nights.

We also loved Gilbert's Restaurant right behind the hotel. It is a walk up to the counter hamburger/sandwich/soup place. The owner was there and talked to every table. Highly recommend a walk to it. YUMMY.

There is also and Outback Steakhouse right across the street. There is also a mall area where we had my son's eyeglasses repaired. It is also right across the street.

Everyone at hotel was friendly. There was a lot of Orange Bowl groups there. Taxis were easy to get to port in the morning. It cost around 15 dollars for 4 of us to get to port. Easy.

Room Tip: High floor facing port. Go to Gilbert's for hamburgers.

The rooms were great. Had a suite on the 10th floor, bed was fine, and had no issues with it. Here are my issues: They charge you $21 a day to park there...that's BS to start with. The free breakfast was good but there isn't much of a variety. Nothing changes from day to day. They had 2 fruits to offer, cereal, pork, potatoes and eggs. I don't eat pork, cereal or potatoes so I have eggs and bananas every morning. Yeah, I know, its free so quit complaining but the rooms were $200+ a night. There were kids there on some kind of programs who were allowed to run up and down the halls until 11pm. That was annoying. I called but I still heard them for another hour.

Stayed after a cruise. Location was convenient to water taxi and and cruise port. Staff seemed to not know what was going on. I had 2 rooms-one was clean and the other wasn't so they wanted to put us on 2 different floors which would have been VERY inconvenient. They told us the people in the room had not checked out but we saw them leave and then the maids clean the room. We told the front desk but they insisted people had not checked out. We went on a tour came back and the front desk still said room was not ready at which point the manager got the the keys and took us to the clean room!! SURPRISE! I would not stay here again!

The bed was comfortable, and the room was nice enough, not luxurious, but well-appointed and reasonably spacious. We got one of the pet-friendly suites on the 2nd floor and were disappointed with the size of the balcony -- barely enough room to stand, impossible to fit a chair out there. Front desk service was great, but it took a very long time to get a bellman when we arrived, and it took a very long time for the valet to retrieve our vehicle at departure. A valve went bad in our toilet just as we were putting the babies to bed, and it made an extremely loud groaning sound -- so loud I could barely hear the front desk person on the phone when we called down -- until the engineer came to fix it, which unfortunately took about 45 minutes.

Owing to the bedtime chaos we didn't make it down for breakfast in the morning, which is too bad. What I saw of the rest of the hotel, the inner courtyard and the pool area, looked nice. We ordered chicken strips and fries for one of the kids at night, and the fries were good, but the chicken was just OK. I also ordered two glasses of iced tea for myself, and I was glad I got two because despite the price the glasses were quite small. I feel like it's a nice enough place -- the toilet episode could have happened anywhere, just bad luck -- and a good $100-150 hotel given the location, but we paid far more than that, and we definitely wouldn't stay again at anywhere near the price we paid.
