I was offered a travel agents appreciation rate to check out the Embassy Suites newly remodeled hotel in Ft Lauderdale Fla.
We stayed there 2 nights post cruise on 5-8 and 9th 2008.

This is a beautiful hotel. The pool area is incredible with plants and waterfall and plenty of seats.
The room are suites with 2 rooms, a mini bar with sink, flat panel tv and beautifully decorated. Beds were great and comfy.

The atrium is gorgeous and open to all rooms from floor to ceiling and looks like a beautiful park setting.

They also served and exceptional breakfast buffet for free with pastries, eggs. omlets, grits, pancakes, fruit etc, etc. Really great.

Everything is within walking distance. We walked to Outback for dinner, and a Publix for drinks and snacks. They have a restaurant , but was overpriced for us, and a bar and a small store inside.

Take advantage of this great hotel when in Lauderdale. It's the best.

  • Liked — beautiful accomondation and location
  • Disliked — parking was valet or park yourself. Park yourself usually in the back but and entrance there

I can not even begin to say how much we loved this hotel!

I own a travel agency and am always looking for nice, reasonably priced accommodations to send clients pre cruise and in terms of getting the most bang for your buck value this property by far has the competition beat hands down!

There are several packages you can select when booking at the Embassy Suites including a cruise package which includes transfers via a shuttle to the port. We however decided to utilize a town car service the hotel also can contract with and what a lovely way that was to start and end a cruise. For only seven dollars per person (plus tip) you can be picked up at the hotel and driven to the port in a spacious town car and the price was the same to go from the port to the airport. So much nicer than a cab or a shuttle!

Ok on to the hotel itself. The property has recently been renovated and everything is bright clean with a "fresh look" about it. We were in a business suite on the 12th floor which comprised of a living/dining area a separate bedroom with full bath and then an additional meeting room with a half bath. I would highly recommend getting this type of suite if you have a lot of luggage! It was great to pile our things in the separate room and not be falling all over them. The extra half bath was also a big plus.

The suite itself is very nice; it was decorated in all new high quality fabrics and was as clean as can be. I did the "bare foot test" right away on all the carpeting. (Washed my feet in the bathroom and then scuffled through out the suite and returned to the bathroom to rewash my feet on the white face cloth) not a speck of dirt showed up! That alone would make me recommend the hotel! There is nothing more disturbing to me than walking on a filthy carpet. There were two large flat screen TV's one in the bedroom and one in the living area. For families traveling with children this is idea so that there is no arguing over what show to watch. Our son slept in the living room on the pull out couch and said it was quite comfortable. We took the king bed in the other room and I must say it was blissful, there was a bottom duvet or feather bed type of covering over the mattress that just made you want to snuggle up and never leave. The bed was a true king with lots of room, unlike many hotels who try to pass off a queen as a king and a double as a queen. Client comfort was defiantly a priority at the embassy suites. (Rooms are also available with two queens)

The bathroom was immaculate and was equipped with some nice amenities including a real hair dryer (I so dislike those wall mounted little blowers) there was also a bidet in the bathroom which my husband got quite a kick out of. (Not sure if he ever tried it) In the bedroom area there is also a wet bar which comes in very handy when you have three people all wanting to wash their faces and brush teeth.

The living room had a large couch, and a very comfortable easy chair and lots of leg room. The dining area there was made up of nice table along with a "kitchenette" which was comprised of a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. It would be very easy to spend a many days at the hotel and be quite comfortable. Each evening there is a free manager's reception with snacks and open bar (as well as soda) and a great hot cooked to order breakfast buffet is also part of the hotel package. Certainly a very good value for the price of a hotel room!

Other areas of note are the nice gym area with state of the art equipment all with flat panel televisions to watch while working out. The atrium was beautiful with waterfalls and Koi ponds as well as a free internet kiosk for guests to use. The pool area is quite lovely with another waterfall as well as a Jacuzzi near by. If we had arrived sooner in the day I would have most definitely utilized it. There is also an on site restaurant and gift shop.

One last thing to note was how gracious all the staff we encountered were. Everyone had a smile on their face and was happy to help you out. They were not aware that I was a travel agent or that I would be review this site for my own clients. The best summation was when I was in the gift shop and the gentleman that worked there was raving to me what a great place it was to work. Happy employees make happy guests! I will definitely be sending my clients here! To see detailed photos of the hotel you can visit my photo album here

What a great pre-cruise stay this was for my husband and me.

We arrived at the hotel early Saturday afternoon at around 1pm. Although check in wasn't until 3pm, we were given a room immediatey. The gal that checked us in was very friendly and was quick to make sure that we knew about the complimentary manager's reception with free cocktails, beer and wine that (and every) evening, as well as the free breakfast schedule for Sunday.

Our suite on the 9th floor was a king bed (this was nice as when we booked, there were only rooms with 2 double beds available) on the 9th floor that overlooked the cruise port. We had a small balcony that was only big enough to really stand on, but that was ok. Some of the others had tables and chairs though. When we woke up Sunday morning, we saw our cruise ship out our balcony door. Nice way to start the vacation!

This hotel is very close (walking distance) to many amenities such as restaurants, a grocery store and a wine/liquor superstore. This came in handy when we needed some last minute things for our cruise. For those that would like a mani/pedi, there is also a nail salon really close by. There's also a tanning salon nearby for those who want to get a pre-cruise "tan". :)

Bed was comfy. Water was hot. Hotel was quiet. Food was good. (It was free, how can it get better than that?)

Cab far from the airport to the hotel was around $11 for 2 people and very fast. I think it took about 10-12 minutes tops.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for a business or leisure traveler.

This hotel is located directly on 16th St. It is one of the prime hotels for pre-cruise and post-cruise travelers.

The hotel is located approx. 5 mins from Ft.Lauderdale Beach, about a 2 min ride or 10 minute walk to the Water Taxi (located at the Ft.Lauderdale Grande Hotel)

The Port Everglades with shuttle available is located less than a 5 min drive to the ports.

Room is nice with balconies and a very nice pool area with waterfall and good restaurant area.

Located next to shopping center and numerous places to eat all within a 2 miles radius.

Airport is less than 10 mins away.

  • Liked — Promixity to Port Everglades and downtown area
  • Disliked — Little busy during the weekends because of the Cruise Passengers.
