We were a group of 5 women traveling together and stayed here pre-cruise. We picked it based on reviews, one of us had points for a free room and the fact that the rooms could accommodate 3 people. The hotel is clean and I guess has been recently remodeled so it was fine in that respect but the service was terrible. We arrived late afternoon and after checking in headed for the pool and wanted to order some drinks and food. The menu on the table listed available items and said "ask your server for details" but we could not get a server...we did catch a waiter brining drinks to another table and asked him and his response was "maybe I can find someone to help you." When no one showed up two of us went to the bar where the bartenders not only ignored us and would not take our order but ignored a distressed waiter who was trying to get them to take a customers check. We ate dinner in the restaurant and we had a very nice waiter but he was the only one in the place except the hostess who did nothing but yell at him. For $300 I would expect a lot better service. Will definitely never stay here again...I have stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriott and the Hyatt Pier 66 which are a little more epensive but both were excellent.
my wife and i went on a cruise and we had to come in a day early to avoid the bad weather in ct. i read all the reviews and this place looked to be a good choice. i want to thank everyone for their reviews. the hotel was real nice. they offer a free breakfast which was excellent and they have a happy hour each day between 5:30 and 7:30. this happy hour is different because they actually give you all free drinks during these 2 hours. they have bud and bud light on tap and you can get mixed drinks with their house liquors. this shocked me. ive never seen a happy hour with free drinks for 2 hours. one of my favorite restaurants was right across the street which is chucks steakhouse. i was in my glory. we ate lunch there and walked over again for supper. this hotel has a restaurant and a nice bar. this hotel has a beautifull interior. the rooms are suites and are real nice with 2 plasm tvs in the 2 rooms. you cant go wrong here .its a perfect hotel for a night before going on a cruise.
Service with a smile was constant at this hotel. We stayed here for a few days and everything was lovely. We had to visit many places in a short time so due to exhaustion we had dinner room service often. Food was great and service prompt and friendly. The room setup with dining table made this a very nice solution.
The location was perfect for us,no car, many walkable places for us.Comfortable beds and wonderful shower.
We sat at the pool and enjoyed the sunshine.
What a great breakfast that was included.
This was our 3rd stay at Embassy Suites on 17th Street in Ft. Lauderdale. Our last trip here was in 2004, prior to the renovations.
When in your suite it has the feel of a new hotel. This was much needed for back in 2004 the hotel was a bit run down.
I was going to attach photos but those on the official website are very accurate. Not those on this site for they are pre-renovation. The rooms now have dark wood furniture and flat screen TV's.
My only complaint is the $10 parking fee. The hotel has strip malls and office buildings on every side, all with free parking. The Hyatt Place just 2 blocks from the Embassy offers free parking. I could see charging such a rate if the property were in a big city or ocean front.
The outdoor heated pool is wonderful, especially if you are traveling with young kids. The water is very warm no matter what time of the day. The pool side bathrooms have been renovated and look sharp.
The included breakfast is another plus. Very large selection beginning at 6:30 and running till 10. From 5:30-7:30 each night they offer a free happy hour. Wine, beer, and well liquor. Always a good crowd with light snacks being offered.
The front desk is very responsive, pleasant, and professional. House cleaning is also very good.
The beach is only 2 miles away, so the location is great for those renting a car. If you do drive down to the beach look for metered parking. Very reasonable right near the Swimming Hall of Fame. Did not enter that building just seems boring from the title. What could they possibly have inside???
All in all a great hotel and one we would never hesitate using again.
