My sister and I stayed at the Courtyard for a little under a week and we had a very good experience. We just went for a summer get-away while on vacation from school so we were happy to find a decently-priced location near to the beach without the need to rent a car in order to get around.

The hotel is right across the street from the beach and you are close to the beach front walkway with many bars, shops, and restaurants nearby. If you are not planning to rent a car, it's very easy to get around as well. You can get around by foot (not really recommended when it is very humid though!), by taxi, or you can take advantage of public transportation (the most economical option for us). There are several bus routes adjacent to the hotel and the transit fare is pretty decent: $1.25 for 1 ride or $3.00 for an all day pass. I brought along my laptop to help map out public transit routes through the wi-fi internet in the hotel and I had a pretty easy time.

The hotel was very clean and the service was excellent. We had a standard room with 2 queen size beds. Though we would have liked a room overlooking the ocean side, we were still quite pleased as our room overlooked the marina. I spent many a moment just watching the marina, seeing the boats come and go as I was relaxing at night. Some of the other amenities of the hotel are a 24 hour gym, outdoor pool, business center, ATM, laundry room, microwave, snack bar, and towel service for the beach (we didn't use it so I can't tell you if it was free or not).

The beds were quite comfortable and the room came equipped with a fridge and coffeemaker. I would recommend buying some groceries and keeping them in the fridge for cold breakfasts as the restaurant was only OKAY for the amount we paid for our breakfast on the first day ($15.00 per person not including tip). My sis and I went across the street to the 7-11 and bought some brown bread, peanut butter, bananas, yogurt, cut-up fruit pieces, juice, cut up cheese and veggies, bottled water, muffins and croissants to make our own "continental breakfasts" every morning for far cheaper. If we had rented a car it would have been easier to find a real grocery store nearby to have even more breakfast options but by bus or walking it would have taken a little longer to transport all our groceries back to the hotel.

At night we took advantage of the terasse that overlooks the ocean to just sit and relax and enjoy a drink. As was mentioned by another poster, the hotel bar was a little expensive. More so for beer than mixed drinks if anything. For dinner, we took advantage of the many various local restaurants, but be prepared to spend a fair amount of money as there weren't many good budget restaurants nearby. The best we found was on the corner of Las Olas and Seabreeze where my sister and I enjoyed a $6.95 burger and a $8.95 Philly cheese steak. Not the healthiest, but still a good deal in comparison to other places nearby.

As for local attractions, we visited Bonnet House (pretty and interesting but not recommended for small children due to fragile objects and displays), we went to the Galleria Mall and Sawgrass Mills for shopping, we visited the Swap Shop flea market (pretty good if flea markets are your thing - bring a water bottle though cause it's very hot!) and we took a day cruise to the Bahamas (the highlight of our trip by far!). Las Olas boulevard also has some funky, if not overly expensive shops as well that might be worth browsing if you have a lot of money to spend.

All in all, I would certainly return to this hotel if I were to come back to visit Fort Lauderdale. It is recommended for those who want a nice, clean place to stay for an economical price. I'm sure there are far more fancy hotels nearby but for budget conscious travelers it is a good choice.

  • Liked — Close proximity of the beach
  • Disliked — No good grocery stores at a walking distance, somewhat pricy restaurants

the hotel itself was great..we got a great beach view and the staff was the most friendly..however i would stay away from neighboring BUBBA GUMP RESTAURANT which is the most awful place and service i experienced in ft lauderdale. the staff was the most arrogant and rude..i sent an email to corporate and they never bother to respond. Great hotel STAY AWAY from its neighboring restaurant BUBBA GUMP it sucks big time.

I spent 5 nights at this hotel earlier this month, while attending a conference. The hotel was good. The staff was friendly and the room was very comfortable. This is an older hotel that has been redone. The location is great too.

Valet parking is $25 a night, but in Ft.L you pay to park EVERYWHERE! The good thing is that you can take your car in and out numerous time. The valet staff (Jimmy) was wonderful.

The hotel is right across the street from the public beach, and the hotel pool deck sets right above shops and places to eat (Bubba Gumps is good) The drinks at the pool bar are expensive but good, with live music most evenings.

My room was on the 14th floor so I had a great view of the ocean and the parking lot below. My room was fresh and clean - new furniture and great linens. The room had a separate sitting area and two flat screen TVs. There was even a frig which came in handy. The bathroom was nice too.

My only real complaint was with Ft. Lauderdale itself. The convention center is not close. You can't walk there, and most of the hotels are spread out along the coast. If I were to come back, this hotel was fine, but I'd probably want to stay at the Harbor Beach Marriott... right on the water with beautiful grounds.

  • Liked — Cleanliness of room and location - close to eateries
  • Disliked — Location - isn't close to Convention Center

My husband and I stayed at the Courtyard for 4 nights in June, and we couldn't be happier with our stay. First of all, we were given a corner room with floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views of the intercoastal and the beach. We never turned on the TV because the view was so incredible and it was fun to watch the swimmers and divers at the Hall of Fame. The décor of the room was modern and pleasant. The glass-door shower was large and had strong water pressure. We valet parked our rental car, and always received great service from the valets. The housekeeping was good, and we had no problems getting extra towels when we asked. We ordered room service twice, and the food was decent (in my opinion hotel food is never great), and it came quickly. We ate breakfast once in hotel, and it was your standard issue hotel breakfast buffet. We never used the pool, but did visit the tiki bar a few times. My only complaint with the bar was that it wasn't always open during the posted hours. The folks at the front desk were always friendly, and we were thrilled that we were able to check-in at noon and check-out at 3:00 pm. We chose this hotel for its reasonable rates and great location, but we were surprised by how great our stay was – we’ll definitely be back!

I recently stayed for Memorial weekend with 2 friends. The three of us are in our early twenties and wanted a fun weekend.

The rooms very nice and the staff was very helpful. We loved the poolside bar and the beach is steps from the hotel. We found the location to be perfect. The beach is right there, the pool was nice and all the restaaunts were closeby.

One day we did have breakfast in the resataurant and were dissapointed. The portions of food were very small.

however, we did find a place in Beach Place Shopping center for breakfast that we loved (less than 10 minute walk away). We also picked up the trolley for only 50 cents which took us to the Riverfront where all the nightlife was.

Overall - we were very pleased with our stay. When taking cabs at night - we found the cab drivers to take you different ways if you said the addresss of the hotel (Seabreeze blvd) because they know you are tourists...we found telling them A1A and Las Olas was best).

Great location. Nice rooms. Very nice staff. I'd definitely stay here again!

  • Liked — Location. Pool.
  • Disliked — Breakfast in the resatraunt, overpriced for quality/quantity.
