“Clean and Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

This was my first experience with a La Quinta. This hotel was very clean, comfortable, quiet, and well staffed. The hotel was convenient - easy in and easy out - and had plenty of parking. I will stay at La Quinta Inns again in the future.

I had to work for a week in Fort Lauderdale, and wanted something convenient to the work location. La Quinta is finishing a renovation of this property, so we thought we'd give it a shot. We reserved a smoking suite on the web site and confirmed it through the 800 reservations number. Upon arrival, we were informed that their suites were all non-smoking. After 10 minutes on the phone with reservations, we were told that nothing could be done. We accepted a downgrade to a standard smoking room. The room was reasonably sized for a standard and the furnishings were decent.
The front desk staff is very friendly and at least tries to address issues, but there are just too many issues. The wireless internet connection is poor, when it works at all (about 50% of the time). The management did credit us $50 after our 6th or 7th complaint. The refrigerator wasn't working - the maintenance guy eventually figured out that the coils were frozen over. He got it working - sort of. It cooled our drinks but they never really got cold. Housekeeping did not sweep, mop, or wipe anything. One day they didn't even empty ashtrays. Another day they left clean towels but also left the soiled ones. The bathtub was in need of a good scrubbing. The property offers a free breakfast (as do many other chains), but this one was lacking. The only hot offerings besides coffee are waffles and instant oatmeal (mix it yourself, of course). A smile or greeting from the breakfast attendant would have helped, but she was downright surly. At least there is a McDonalds next door....

We stayed for one night, prior to catching our early flight in the morning. We had a very long and harrowing drive up from Miami due to traffic (we arrived at 7 p.m.)and were looking forward to relaxing in the pool and hottub upon our arrival. The very nice young man at the front desk told us that the pool is only open until dusk, but he could keep it open until 8. When we rushed down to the pool area, we found the pool to be unheated (temp in 60s) and the hottub to be lukewarm. We opted to stay at this hotel for the pool/hottub as well as its proximity to the airport.
We were very disappointed - especially the kids.
The room was a typical hotel room with 2 beds, table and bathroom. Clean, but nothing special. Alarm clock didnt work properly, but wake-up call was punctual.

Stayed here for one night, in the interim to getting on a cruise. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, very comfortable beds, great free breakfast, nice pool and hot tub area, although pool is not heated and was too cold to swim. Next door to McDonalds, would recommend having a car if staying here as there is not much to do do/see within walking distance.

We booked our Christmas holidays here for 10 nights - we actually only stayed 7 nights, however.

The outside of the property is clean and nice. The back where the pool is has a nice and well maintained garden. The pool fence, however, is rusting and doesn't lock properly. If you have small children or pets, please be careful as the gate around the pool is often unlocked!

The hotel does have damage from Hurricane Isaac, so on the 3rd floor, there's actually a wall missing upon exiting the elevators. The rooms on the first floor are being fixed, so there are no rooms available in front of the pool area.

Our first room at this property was musty and the carpet was wet and mushy. Our A/C wasn't working properly and the fan in the bathroom was on constantly making quite a bit of noise. We moved from this room after a few nights. Management handled the issue well, in my opinion.

The WIFI in the room is spotty. If you ask them at the front desk, they will reset the router for you, but don't expect amazing speeds or consistent internet service. The McDonald's next door actually has better free WIFI.

The free breakfast consists of waffles, bread, bagels, apples, oranges, yogurt, juice, muffins, and eggs boiled for so long they are green. If you go late in the morning, there may not be any coffee left. The space is clean and well maintained.

Aside from that, we used the laundry facilities and any problems we had were handled by front desk promptly. It is nothing special, but it's good value and each room has a microwave and fridge. It was convenient for us staying as a family and keeping vacation costs low.

There's not tons in the area (very business/industrial). There's a Subway, Quiznos and Chilis not too far off.
Also, it's very close to the executive airport, so loud planes fly overhead frequently starting at 6:30am every morning. If the noise disturbs you, stay somewhere else.
