“COMFORT SUITES AIRPORT AND CRUISE PORT HOTEL”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Have stayed here three times over the last 4 years prior to taking a cruise.

As we are from the UK we extend our holiday with several days around Florida. Fort Lauderdale is one of my favourite cities and I always enjoy staying here.

This hotel has been a little run down but has recently been re-vamped and update and the change is tangible. The public areas are looking smart and the rooms are very modern and clean. For a reasonably priced hotel it includes a free buffet breakfast and free parking.

If you want to stay for 3 or 4 days prior to a cruise this is a good choice but you do need a car.

Excellent front desk staff.

If you want to go shopping try Sawmills but you need to have a car otherwise you will waste any savings on cab fares.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location to the port and also the guy who runs the shuttle. We arrived at this hotel late Friday night for a Saturday cruise. Had four rooms with two beds.. Each room had one bed and a pull out couch. We were told there was two beds, prior to arrival. The couch mattress was disgusting, no pillows, and someone's old goldfish snack crackers still in the couch. One of the rooms had a do not disturb sign on the door and the room has not been cleaned. There was no option but to wait for it to be cleaned, as the hotel was full; the result was going to bed after 2:00am. The gentleman who ran the shuttle service was very nice and accommodating to our group..thank you. I would not recommend to stay at this hotel.

Thank you for review . You are welcome to e-mail me at ellen@comfortfll.com. Of course we will discuss this with our Housekeeping Manager and the Front Desk Manager but it is very important to us that you send us your name and date of stay so we can narrow it down to specific staff members. We are so sorry . We will take care of your concerns . Thank you so much .

First time at this hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Many people use this hotel prior to a cruise and the hotel is more like a factory than a hotel.
Arrived on Saturday to cruise on Sunday. Front Desk gal was great and did the best job she could but the problem was she was the only one working with 15-20 people wanting to check-in. Housekeeping didn't call her about available room and wouldn't call her back. She had to leave the front desk to go find out. Then the complimentary breakfast is suppose to be available until 10:00 am but they started putting food away at 9:40 am and then at 10:00 on the dot they shut off the lights in the dining room with people sitting in it..!!! Probably our first and last stay at this hotel.

Thanks for your comments. On Saturdays, we have a big turnover. Checkout time is 11 a.m. and check in is at 3 pm . We try our best to get rooms ready for our guests and I apologize for your inconvenience. We will be addressing the Breakfast Room situation with the staff and appreciate your telling us about it. I do hope you will give us another chance.

March 30, 2013 (Saturday night) stay
Rm. 216
Holiday Inn was full so they sent us to the Comfort Suites.
2 Queen Beds / AAA Discount $180/night
Departing on a cruise the next morning

Nice decor, very contemporary styling in the room
Being on the 2nd floor on the street side of the hotel it was very loud (road noise) through the windows. Seemed like single panes of glass.
Very slow elavator

Breakfast area very-undersized for the amount of people staying in the hotel.
Rotten bananas
People hanging out for extended periods in the area making it crowded while they waited to depart for cruises/flights/etc.

Conveinant to the ports for departing cruises.

Thank you for your review. We are convenient for pre and post cruise and on busy cruise days we do tend to have a lot of our guests in the breakfast room, riding the elevators and in the lobby waiting for transportation. I will address the over-ripe bananas with our Manager. As you mentioned, we do have a nice contemporary decor. Thanks again.

This is an older hotel, nevertheless, the condition is good. Our room was rather utilitarian but was clean and in good repair. The staff was friendly and tried to accommodate our needs.
The breakfast was more than adequate.
We used this as an overnight prior to a cruise. The location is just a few blocks from the port.
If you like, they will keep your auto for $10.00 per night while you are cruising. They provide shuttle service to and from the port. The port charges $12.00 per day. We liked the convenience of having our car at the port so we chose the latter.
The general location is quite nice. Lot of good restaurants nearby.

Thank you for this review. We are indeed the perfect pre-cruise hotel. Great location with shops and restaurants to walk to, clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast. All you could ask for. Plus, we will let you leave your car for $10/day and will shuttle you between the hotel and the port for a nominal fee. Thanks again and come back soon.

Stayed at this hotel for one night prior to a cruise from Port Everglades. The hotel is located a 5 minute cab ride from both the airport and the port making it perfect for a pre-cruise stay. Our room was on I believe the 6th floor and from my window I was able to see the ships in port in the morning. There is a CVS and a Taco Bell both within very easy walking distance. The room was well appointed and the bedding was very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was very crowded as is to be expected on an embarkation morning. The only complaint I would have is that I was able to hear the music that is piped into the hallway next to the elevator while in my room, not a big deal but a strange occurance.

Thanks for this nice review. You said it all. Great location, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast (even though a bit crowded some days of the week). Thanks for mentioning the music. I will address it with our Manager. We can have it turned down during the night. I hope you'll be back to see us again.

10 minutes from the airport and a 5 minute drive to the cruise port makes this hotel a convenient option for travelers. Free shuttle service from the airport and $6:00 per person for a contact shuttle to the cruise port. As for the quality of the hotel its average and a bit tired but clean. There are a number of fast food and not so fast food restaurants within a short walk as well a convenience stores and a liquor store. The staff was helpful however there was only one counter person and it took some time to get checked in. Elevators slow - take stairs. Safe travels! Chip

Thank you, Chip, for this nice review. You're right - we have a very good location close to the airport, port and lots of shops and restaurants. I'm sorry the elevators were slow. It seems everyone wants to go to breakfast and the same time and check out at the same time. We usually have 2 people at the front desk - you may have come in on a day that someone called out sick. But - all in all it sounds like you had a great stay here. Please come back to see us again.
