My husband and I stayed here because he was attending a conference in the hotel. I tagged along because it was F-l-o-r-i-d-a and, being from Ohio, was not about to miss a chance to enjoy some warm weather. It did not take long to realize that this hotel is merely an overnight pitstop for people who are on their way to a greater vacation destination. The hotel accomodates to these travelers with the continental breakfast and the air/cruise port shuttle, both of which are complimentary. If you just need a place to crash for the night, this is it. However, if you want to walk to the beach, shop and see sights other than fast food joints you will have to rent a car, pay a taxi or stay elsewhere.
The staff was helpful and answered questions pleasantly. The breakfast was fine and varied somewhat each day. The pool is small, popular to sit around and although the water was clean and clear the bottom needed a good cleaning. Cleanliness seems to be an issue as we, too, found our room hairy and the vacuum only used in the middle of the room. Our housekeeper told us that people do not want to check out until the last minute, making it difficult to get all the rooms ready by the check - in
time.
We did not get in until midnight Friday and were starving; Taco Bell's drive thru was open but since we didn't have a car they wouldn't serve us. The place across the street was "just cleaning up" as was the local bar and grill that was open "late".
Being so late at night and not knowing our way around, we did not wander. For your information, though, there is a McDonald's, Burger King and Denny's a couple of blocks east of the Suites.
We used a taxi to get around to more interesting places; about $10 - 15.00 each way. That wil get you to the beach and Las Olas, places that I consider to be tourist friendly and where I would stay for an official vacation. Overall, it will do but unless you have a car,are staying for more than a couple of days or if you have kids, I'd choose a different site. Happy trails!
