I had wanted to stay at the Bahaia Cabana for years. Last time in Fort Lauderdale I walked over to look at the facility and thought that it looked like a fun place to stay. I booked online a few weeks ago and was looking forward to staying for the weekend. When we checked in, we were told that our room was located at another building 1/2 block away and was lead to believe it was in our best interest because it was quiet.

There is no kind way to describe the builing--it is an old motel which is now part of the Bahaia Cabana and badly in need of repair. It is a dump. The room has a very old, tiny, bathroom with corroded faucets, one of which could not be turned off. The hot water was so hot that it could easily have burnt you. The air conditioner on high barely cooled the room. Barefoot feet became filthy from the rug. The TV was a 13" television. There was no ice maker. Ice had to be retrieved from the bar 1/2 block away. I felt like I was staying in a tenement but paying penthouse prices.

The food at the Tiki Restaurant was very good and the view very nice. The manager did offer some compensation for the miserable stay. My advice is to look elsewhere or demand to be in the main building.

I stayed at this hotel with 2 of my friends for two nights. We were looking for a place close to the ocean and some nightlife. We felt this was a great place to stay.

The rooms were small and had not been updated lately. Free valet parking was nice and easy to get your car for touring. The location was excellent, right across the street from a very nice beach area. The bar and restuarant area was wonderful, right on a great harbor area.

This is not an upscale place, but if you are looking for a fun time and are in college or young adult it is a great place to stay.

My husband and I spent one night (if I had been booked for more I wouldn't have stayed). I have to agree with everything said by the reviewer who posted extensive photos.. This place isn't quaint - it is a dump. And it is definitely not hurricane damage, but years of neglect.

The guy who checked us in was very polite and personable and told us he had given us a free upgrade. Our room was down the road and across the street and we found that our free upgrade was a dismal kitchenette with a dirty, rusty stove that I would be afraid to turn on. The cabinets were grimy and lacked even basic utensils. The room was large, but sparse with a dresser that was falling apart, curtains that had paint spattered all over them (I don't know when that happened because the room badly needed a paint job - actually it needed a complete overhaul), no art on the walls at all. a loose extension cord laying on the floor. The entire room seemed to slope downward. You were never sure that the door was actually locked and the only extra lock was a rusty safety chain that was falling off the door. On the upside, the small, very old bathroom was at least clean.

We did eat lunch at the restaurant/bar outside overlooking the marina, which was good and the service was friendly. However, there were lots of offensive odors en-route from room to restaurant. The area around the pool deck and bar there was dirty with garbage here and there and again...those odors... We went for a nightcap at the bar later that evening and the crowd was sleazy. One drink was enough.

We were unable to get ice for our room because the ice maker at the foot of the stairs leading to our room was incapacitated (see photo attached). The next morning when we checked out, we asked where another ice maker could be found (we had a few things in a small cooler and needed a little fresh ice for the ride home). We were told that none of the ice makers worked and directed to go behind the closed pool bar and help ourselves to ice from there.

I have to say this was the first time TripAdvisor reviews had let me down. I even went back through them thinking I had looked at the wrong place - surely there couldn't have been that many good reviews for this place...but I wasn't mistaken...just way let down.

In closing - I would never stay there again - unless it was torn down and rebuilt.... I would say that lunch & drinks at the restaurant overlooking the marina is about the only thing this place is good for.

The Days Inn Bahia Cabana is a great place to stay on the cheap, and given the fact that the number of smaller beach hotels like this is dwindling every year, the Bahia Cabana is becoming more unique as time goes by. The dock bar/restaurant is unbeatable, the location is great (next to the charter boat/water taxi stop, across the street from Fort Lauderdale Beach, and an easy walk/taxi from the Elbo Room bar 1/2 mile north on A1A), and the rooms can be reasonable if you book in advance.

The hotel offers three types of rooms in two sections - one section connected to the lobby and bar and pool area, and another section of two buildings 1/2 block away on the other side of the street. I stay here twice each winter and have found the rooms to be basically clean, although the mattresses always seem thin to me.

If you prefer quiet, maybe the rooms away from the main hotel would be better. The small rooms in the main hotel not only open onto the bar/jacuzzi area, the back windows of the rooms overlook a busy fire house. Ear plugs could be a good investment if you are a light sleeper and end up in one of these rooms.

The Bahia Cabana is definately not a 'business' hotel, nor should it try to be. The wood trim on the outside does need maintenance, but the basic hotel facilities (lobby, gift shop, jacuzzi, pool, restaurant/bar, rooms) are fine.

The Bahia Cabana is a great place to stay for the casual traveler to South Florida and when new construction development eventually closes it down, which looks more likely every year, the Bahia Cabana will be missed.

This place should be condemned. Do you like the smell of stale beer and puke?

This was the most horrific place I have ever stayed in. Now I am no snob, I don't mind days inns or Hojos.. that is why I booked this place, but the Bahia Cabana was a flophouse surprise.

All of the money here is used on the Bar. THe rest of the hotel is literally falling apart and it is NOT HURRICANE DAMAGE. In my opinion it is obvious they are letting this hotel fall apart and just collecting bar profits. They have no pride in this place.
They have awards all over the walls from the early 90s about how great they are, but NOTHING has been done since then. THis place looks like it should be shut down and condemned. I don't know who they are paying to keep it open.

Walking around the grounds on a hot day all you can smell is stale beer and puke. IT is like a frat house (I belonged to one) the night after a party. You can do much better then this place, but it could be a nice place to get drunk. To be fair, the outdoor bar on the inlet has a nice atmosphere.

I know there are many good reviews on this place, so I thought I would be the first to show some pictures so you know I am not exagerating. I think others must have been very drunk at this place to give it such good reviews.

If the bar is what you are looking for then this may be an ok choice, but I would really have to be drunk in order to choose to stay there again.
First thing in the morning, we got the Heck out of this place then shook off the shivers. Glad it was only one night.
