The Bahia Cabana isn't the Ritz-Carlton, but for the price, there's not much to complain about. Sure, the rooms aren't the prettiest. Their "renovations" to the rooms over the years haven't been the most elegant, nor have they been respectful of the era in which the building was built, but they're cheap, ideally located across from the beach and overlooking the Bahia Mar Marina. Their pool area is nice, and the food at their restaurant is awesome. The penthouses were nice when we visited them, but we were actually staying in the second annex building. Cool midcentury modern buildings that have seen better days. Located across the street from beautiful turquoise apartments with butterfly roofs, the 500 building has an architecture that isn't seen much these days. I was in heaven just taking in the design of the buildings. Our bathroom still had the pink tiles on the wall, but they had put an overlay on the tub, added a new vanity (you could still see the old pink tile under the vanity) and changed out the toilet for a more modern version. I was a little disappointed, but that's just the MCM geek in me.

Overall, neat place. Cheap accomodations, fabulous staff, OK rooms. I'll be back.

Nice quiet getaway weekend with my wife. Beautiful location on the canal. Great night life reasonable food and drink prices. Accomodation are only a 1 or 2 rating. In summary great place to party but stay somewhere else. Friendly staff and the valet's are great. Don't forget to eat at the Floridian on Las Olas great dinner and great prices.

This is a great hotel for the money. The rooms were what I expected for the small amt we paid. The pool/patio/bar and restaurant area were great! It was alot of fun, sitting out on the patio having drinks with friends. After the bar closed we brought out our cooler and hung out for a while more. The staff was fine with that and everyone there was very nice. Our kids had fun in the pool. Everyone was very laid back and we had a nice time and would definitely stay again. For everyone writing a review saying this hotel is a "dump" or complaining in some way, what do you expect, in that prime location, on the water, for less than $100 a night? Get real. It was a great deal.

First off, the good: the restaurant/bar is excellent. One of my absolute favorite places in Ft. Lauderdale. Outside, on the marina, the food is great, the drinks cold (and strong) and the wait staff some of the very best in the area.

The good about the hotel: it's cheap. Cheap. Great if you're a college kid on spring break without a lot of money.

HOWEVER, if you're old enough to remember what MTV was like when it first came out--actual music videos and wild parties during the Ft. Lauderdale Spring Break boom times--then you'd remember this hotel as one of the places MTV had those wild parties. The kicker is, the hotel has done nothing to the building since. It is eighties, tired and worn out.

It took three rooms to find one that we thought we could tolerate, and even then the bathroom was moldy and cockroaches active. The bed was among the most uncomfortable I've ever tried to sleep on.

Eat here--absolutely, but unless you're dirt poor, go stay at the Bahia Mar.
