My husband and I and our 12 month-old son stayed at this motel on January 9, 2008. The motel has many pros like location and price but if I didn't have to I wouldn't stay there again. The motel isn't really family friendly. I did like the balcony to an extent. It was nice to put our son to sleep in his pack n' play and go out on the balcony and read. The balconies are designed well in that they give you a lot of privacy from the other patrons of the motel. But the balconies are not designed well in that they are older and not built to code. My son could have easily slipped through the gaps in the railing, therefore we could not allow him on the balcony. The room and linens were clean. The furniture and decor were updated. But the bathroom needed serious attention. It was clean but very old. There was a leak in the tub. The leak must have been there for years because there was an awful stain around the drain. It totally grossed me out to bath my son in there. The other thing I was really disappointed about was the pool. There were jelly-fish in the water when we went across to the beach so I thought, "Well at least our motel has a pool!" It looked clean and so inviting, but when I stepped in it I literally gasped. It was freezing. I had wondered why no one was in it when we passed on the street. I took a quick dip to get the ocean off me but it was too cold for my baby. It would have been cruel to take him in there. The other thing is that in the middle of the night there was a party or something in a nearby room. My husband didn't hear it but they were so loud they woke up me and my baby.
Overall, I think I'd be fine with this place if I didn't have a baby. It was easy because I knew we were only staying one night and that we had a nicer hotel booked for the next few nights. But I definitely wouldn't want to spend a week here with my baby.
