I stayed at the Ramada back in February for a few days of relaxation at a moderately priced hotel by the beach. I wasn't looking for anything very fancy; just a clean comfortable hotel by the beach. The beach is certainly very nice. As for the hotel, well, that's kind of another story. I had a feeling I was in trouble as soon as I checked in, when I was asked for my drivers license. Showing it was not enough---"can you take it out of your wallet, sir?" They took my license back to the office so they could make a photocopy of it. I felt like I just got pulled over for speeding.

The hotel lobby appears to have been updated within the last few years, but that's pretty much where it ends. The rest of the hotel is really tired and in desperate need of renovation (or better yet demolition). The rooms, as another poster said, are pretty gross. I won't go into the details since it would trigger post traumatic stress disorder, but let's just say that I have a feeling that there are more attractive homeless shelters. I don't recommend bringing young children here as the balcony is not only an eyesore, but a hazard.

The pool area faces the beach and is passable, but if you want towels they require that you sign a form each time to make sure you bring them back, or they will charge them to your room. On some days towels were not offered by the pool and you had to trek back to the lobby to get them from the conceirge (and sign the same goofy form).

Business travelers would hate this place. The phone jack is on the other side of the room from the nearest accessible electrical outlet, making it really awkward to go online with a laptop. As for leisure travelers, here are my 2 cents: don't waste your hard earned vacation time and money at a place like this. You will go home annoyed. Spend a few extra dollars and go someplace you will enjoy. You might want to check out the Best Western Pelican Beach Resort which is about a mile or so south on A1A. Just one heads-up...there is a brand new building and another older building. The new building and the adjoining pool area looked promising. Another place that looked promising was a small resort a couple of miles north near Commercial Blvd called the "High Noon Resort." They have small apartments for rent with full kitchens. I asked the manager if I could see one unit, and I found it was just renovated, spacious, and really very nice. Both of these places would be a far better choice than the Ramada, and I plan to try one or both of them on future trips.

This hotel is getting a 2 rating rather than the 1 only because of its location. You are right on the beach. If you plan to stay out there for your entire visit, then by all means book at this hotel. If you plan to go inside at any point read on:
I was shocked at how disgusting the rooms were. The condition of the sheets, blankets, and towels was appalling. Don't bother to ask for better, there aren't any. The rooms were filthy. Not the kind of dirt that can be vacuumed away, we're talking ground in, years old, there is no hope dirt. The rooms are extremely tight, the closet did not open, the dresser was infested with some tiny ant like bug, the ceiling in the tiny bathroom was falling down. Efforts to move to a better room just sent us lower down the chain. The staff was polite, but completely unable to solve, or even admit to, any problems. This was a reasonably priced room, but I have stayed at hotels that were far cheaper, and were still able to provide clean and simple accomodations. This place is just gross!

I just returned from a 5 day stay here - I was very worried after reading all the negative comments, but hoped for the best. The hotel is right on the beach with a beautiful pool/hot tub area which is kept CLEAN. The private beach area is also beautiful. Tiki bar for lunch and drinks right there - they will even take your order from your lounge chair! VERY NICE staff here. Right across the street from McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Winn Dixie - really convenient. Also a WONDERFUL elevator directly to the pool/beach area so you don't have to walk through the lobby.

Problems are:
1) TERRIBLE matresses and old and disgusting sheets and blankets - I slept in a U-shape and had problems with my back the whole time. I spoke to others who said their mattresses were just as bad. Sheets are paper thin and blankets are an awful puke brown color and very old. Ditto on the pillows.
2) The place really needs a coat of paint and carpet steam cleaning. The carpets and walls in the hallways are dingy and in the rooms it seems the carpets have been replaced, but the walls need painted. Bathroom was re-done and clean.
3) Balconies badly need a power-washing.

With all this said, it I found out they just replaced their mattresses and bedding, I would def. stay here again.

My girlfriend and I just returned after staying 5 days at the Ramada. I must say that prior to arriving, I was a bit concerned based on other reviews I read concering this hotel. I can honsetly say that our stay at the Ramada was enjoyable. Here are full details

The cab fare from the airport to the hotel was 30 (including tip). The rooms of the hotel were clean. However, they weren't the most modern thing you'll see in this hotel. Having a frig was definatly a bonus. The balcony was nice. Not very big but it was clean. You have a limited view of the ocean so I would recommend staying from the 5 floor and up.

The maid service was very good. Our room was clean everyday by 10:00a.m. The hotel has a seperate elavator that takes you right to the pool/beach area, which is a great idea..eliminates having to walk through the main lobby and such.

The pool area was very well kept. There is a large hot tube and heated pool. There is also a Tiki Bar which is normally open until 11:00. The drinks were reasonable in price and I must say that I really enjoyed relaxing there.

There is a breakfest buffet served daily, and I would have to say it was the worst thing about this hotel. It was extremly over priced and not that good. There are better places to eat within walking distance of the hotel.

Stay out of the Polo Lounge (unless you enjoy the 70+ crowd) It seems to be a popular place for the retired that live in the nearby condos

There are plenty of resturants and bars within walking distance of this hotel. The Ramada isn't located in the most exciting area of Fort Lauderdale, but check out Lauderdale by the sea. It's within walking distance of the hotel. It's a neat little area with plenty of resturants, bars, shops etc.

All and all my expierence at the Ramada was good. I would definatly refer the hotel to friends and hope to stay there the next time i'm in the area. If anyone has questions feel free to email me

My family and I just returned from staying 4 days at this "Resort". Several problems still exist at the hotel.

The ants are still in the rooms...mainly the bathroom.
The balconies were covered in bird waste and had not been cleaned in weeks.
The conceirge had to be asked twice before coming out to help with our bags.
The pool area was well kept up and the service during lunch and at the tiki bar were good.
Bottom line is with a little more effort this would be a great place but it isn't to date.
