We just returned from a week stay at the Ocean Manor Resort Hotel. We traveled with two other families and I can honestly say all of our rooms were very nice. We did all book through private owners. We stayed in unit 816. It was absolutely beautiful! It was very clean and had a magnificent view of the pool and the ocean. It also had an oversized living area because the balcony was enclosed and made into part of the living room. The room had two master bedrooms with walk in closets and their own bathroom. We rented from Diane and she was very easy to deal with. Our friends rented unit 710 (a two bedroom) which also was very nice with a HUGE balcony overlooking the ocean and pool area. Our other friends rented unit 801 (a one bedroom)which had a nice view of the city and good sunset views. Their unit was immaculate.

Ocean Manor is in a good location. There is supermarket, pizza place, bagel/deli place, McDonalds, and Dunkin Donuts all right across the street and withing walking distance. The street you had to cross was not that busy in July, but may get busier in the winter months.

We went to a Marlins game, traveled to South Beach in Miami, went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Dave and Busters in Hollywood. All of these areas are 30 to 45 minutes away. We also walked around Los Olas Blvd and Lauderdale by the Sea which are both only a 5 or 10 minute drive. The airport is also fairly close --about 20 minutes.

The hotel is being renovated, but the beach and pool area are very nice. The staff was friendly. The Tiki bar does provide music on the weekends. They also provide beach service on the weekend. As long as you are discreet, the staff does not give you a hard time about bringing your own refreshments to the beach. (They were a little more watchful on the weekends.) Of course, I am sure they would rather you bought all your drinks at the Tiki bar. Be sure and check out the coupon books in the front lobby because there are two coupons in there -- one for the restaurant ($5 off a bill of $30 or more and one buy one drink get one free at the Tiki bar.) Also the restaurant automatically adds an 18% tip onto the bill which the waitress did not mention to my son so he ended up double tipping. Not a problem, but it's nice to be aware of it.

All in all we had a great time and I would definitely go back if I am in the Fort Lauderdale area!

The hotel was amazing, especially for the price! Beach front with plenty of room to relax by the pool as well. No need for beach towels, they provide their own! Tiki bar as well as their Rumors Lounge had great nightlife on location. Rooms were cleaned well daily and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room and hotel was also recently renovated! Definitely would recommend!

My husband and I just got back from staying here from 7/20/07-7/25/07........We came in late due to flight delays and got a room that faced another hotel....Not what we paid for and the night clerk said to check with them in the morning....We did that and got switch to Room 418....This had a side ocean view and also overlooked the pool.....The room was somewhat updated and we did have hot water....The room was cleaned everday and had no problems.....The door was the only bad thing .....It could have easily been kicked it.....The hallways were musty and old looking ,,,,,,,,,,,,BEACH WAS GREAT AND SO WAS POOL.... The valet parking and resort fee was a rip off but with what we paid for the rooms and our flight on Skybus....What do you expect..If you want the Ritz Carlton......Go stay there..............Not bad at all!!

If we had not booked this as a package deal we would have walked out!!
Where to begin? First off, parking is mandatory valet unless you want to park your car and walk the family across a busy street.
Next your in for a treat, you get charged a $5/day "resort" fee that is also mandatory. This is supposed to cover valet and towel along with other "amenities" . Please.
Then, the room we thought we had was not right but we could "upgrade" for a fee. That is if you could call it a room, the bathroom door was literally a shower curtain and the room door could have been forced open by my 6 year old. The poorly installed laminate floor was already buckling from water damage and the a/c unit leaked water all over.
The beach was even better, they were out of towels 2/3 of the time and were told by the front desk that the solution was for us to get out there earlier. What?
Thats just the beginning. Look, I am a Firefighter from MPLS and went there with my family. We do not have high standards, we just wanted a fair vacation and this place was a sorry disappointment. Take your money elsewhere and save yourself the disappointment.

The Ocean Manor was a run down hotel with elevators the size
of a postage stamp. Our condo, which we rented from the owner,
was unclean and disappointing. When we called him, he cared
less, unit 819. The resort itself does not allow coolers or drinks of your own AT ALL on the beach or in the pool area, which you pass through to go to the beach.
They even have a security guard watching for anyone with coolers or carrying a drink not purchased from the tiki hut, no matter how you disguise them. The staff outside will stop you also. The tiki hut was OK, but do not order the mahi mahi fingers, they made my husband very ill for two days of our vacation.

  • Liked — Beach scenery and politeness of valet man
  • Disliked — unclean condo, no coolers or drinks of your own allowed on beach or at pool
