50 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
DUMP - do not stay there
We booked through Hotelplusportal and were guaranteed 2 beds ocean front.

Got to the hotel, we were given a corner room with 1 bed, curtains falling off the wall, cabinets falling off the wall. Went down to front desk, we weren't the only ones complaining, so waited in line, was told they don't guarantee 2 beds, finally put in another room, 2 beds - NOT ocean front, the room didn't have a trash can, a comforter on one of the beds, the sliding glass door didn't have a latch or lock, and NO phone. After a few hours there at the hotel, returned to the room to find it still HOT....they had someone come up to look at the air conditioner. He supposedly fixed it, left a mess all over that housekeeping was to come and clean. So we headed to the mall and dinner. Got back at 9:30pm (5 hours later) and the mess was never cleaned up and the air still didn't work. Went back to the front desk, was again told that was the only room they had. I told them to find me another room, and they finally did. So they finally got us in a room with air, NOT ocean front, but roof top view with boards all over the roof (my guess is to cover leaks) was promised a great room the next day. I was told to come down to the front desk at 7am to get started on the UPGRADE they were going to give us for the next day. I was there at 7:05am, 8:00am, 11:00am, 12noon, 1:00pm, and on and on and on. Finally got in an Ocean Front room at 5:00pm. They have more complaints there than they know what to do with. The whole place is a dump. The elevators don't have any kind of inspection signs in them. So who knows how safe they were. I would NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE.

I read the previous reviews about this hotel. I'm sorry I did, my friend, my niece and daughter stayed here. I should not have listened to the reviews, I spent most of my time with them at Ocean Manor. Indeed they are renovating as with many hotels along A1A. This hotel is a bargain and I think when you need service like the Ritz Carlton you need to stay there.
The Tiki bar was great pricey but we had a lot of fun there. We met the hairdresser from the on site salon, he was hilarious. The drinks and food were a little on the high side,but for the convenience you paid the price. McDonald's is across the street and on Oakland Blvd you can find a grocery and other places to buy foodstuff.
People go with your gut, if you feel this is where you want to be, stay there. If you want to have fun and make friends you can exist there, but if you want rest and relaxation you may want another hotel. This hotel is for fun and fun lovers.
As with all hotels in the Ft Lauderdale area there will be some kind of smell from being on the ocean front and getting the sea-blast. There was a slight odor but hey this is the ocean and moisture will prevail.
My friend and others are going back next year and I will accompany them. By then the construction should be over and the noise should be over as well.

Where do I start. Upon arrival I have to pay for my stay in advance. (that should have told me to leave) The first think I lost my computer and went to check everywhere. So I tell the person at the desk and he said he could not help me so then I went to the vallet( this is th only parking available) and he said it was in my car. When I get to my room I could not even take a shower it was so nasty. The room did not have hbo, coffee maker, or a king bed that I have booket. After the first night I requested to be moved to another room (hoping that I just got a bad room) So they moved me from 400 to 216. Better but still wanted to know how they can pass this off as a resort. I go tell the guy down stairs that the cig smoke woke me and my wife up and see if he could do anything about this. He replied that if you used to smoke it is much worse. I can't believe he told me that. The bar is loud and stays open late. The pool is in dieing need for some repairs.I will not be back to this RESORT and on my next trip I will be sure to read reviews.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T STAY HERE...YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!! Where do I start? I wish I would have read the reviews before I booked. Three friends and I just wanted a nice girl’s getaway. We didn't need anything high maintenance but never did we expect what we got. The pictures are very deceiving. The room was nothing like it looked on line.

They have "free valet" but yet charge a resort fee which the front desk told up it was for the valet...not sure how you can call that free. The valet was extremely slow and over looked us for families and older couples multiple times. We paid our money just the same as everyone else. They left the lock box with all the keys in it unlocked all the time. We waited so long for valet once that we just grabbed our own key, which did not make us feel comfortable about leaving it with them unattended. The valet workers were constantly on there phones and very rude.

My major complaint with this hotel was when we checked in we were authorized for a particular amount and when we went to check out it was $100 more. We did not have any extra charges to our room so I asked the front desk why it was more and especially why it was exactly $100 more and he had no explanation for it. Plus he was VERY RUDE! He even asked my friend "What is wrong with you, are you stupid, why don't you understand? I don't know why its $100 more." That is completely unacceptable conduct for any employee

The housekeeping were nice but came very late in the day. We never had enough towels and when asked for more they told us they were out. Although...we actually did have hot water. The cleaner they used on the sink bleached my friend's skirt.

They were doing a lot of maintenance while we were there. During this process, the hallways stunk and a lot of the times were really loud due do the equipment they were using. They painted our door while we were in the room, which sounded like someone was trying to break into our room. (Not exactly what I liked waking up to).

This hotel does not allow you to bring your own coolers, umbrellas, or chairs on the beach so be prepared to pay for them. The food and drinks at the tiki bar and on site restaurant are pretty expensive.
