This was a return stay at the Best Western, and while we did have an overall nice stay we did encounter a few problems. We took the shuttle from the airport, it was a prompt and friendly. Our check in was a breeze. We were on the second floor, the hotel is very clean, but a little loud. The ice machine in the hall echoed a lot during the night and also loud slamming doors throughout the night. With the hotel being so close to the airport and cruise ports, I'm sure that they have travelers in and out all night long, maybe that explaines the slamming doors. Breakfast is okay, again they strive to keep the place clean and friendly.
We walked to our rental car company, Sunshine, about a mile, got our car came back and checked out. It all went nice.
A week later we returned and I called about an hour before we got there to inquire about a walk in rate, we had no reservations, but did have one of those coupon books. The rate was cheaper than the week before so we took it. Check in again went smooth, we told the front desk we had called and were quoted a rate of $109. No problem.
Had dinner next door Pizza, there is also a Mc Donalds, subway, WinnDixsey within walking distance. Lounged around the pool, nice and roomy, clean. Another kind of loud night, people mostly.
Check out at 11 the next day, we were charged $240 the night. My husband told the man that we were quoted the $109 rate. This was the same gentleman that had checked us in. He asked if we had any proof of the rate, we said no, but he was the one that quoted it. Well then he must have "remembered" and gave us the $109 rate.
Again it was a nice stay, but from here on , if we stay here,we will be sure to get "proof" of our rate.
