Staff was very accomodating, helpful and friendly. We arrived early, our room was ready, and we were invited for the breakfast. The front desk was helpful with answering questions about public transportation and directions.
The breakfast was excellent--a great variety and items were kept full. Our room was comfortable, very clean, and quiet (even being beside the ice machine and elevator). The traffic from the street was a little loud at rush hour times. The bed was comfortable, the television had a good variety of stations, the room had a mini refrigerator, microwave, and safe, the complimentary tolietries were nice (Bath and Body Works), and there were lots of towels. There was a little deck to walk out on, but not too much to see from it.
The pool was heated and clean, and the front desk has pool towels (as many as you need). The bar had very reasonable prices for food ($7 for a sandwhich) and drinks ($5 for a mixed drink) until 11 PM, and it was relaxing just to hang out there in the evenings.
The location was just a short walk to the beach, a 10 minute walk to bars/restaurants, and right on the bus line (#40)/Sun Trolley Line. We took a cab to/from the airport (about $20), we rode the Sun Trolley (50 cents one way or $2 for a day pass, runs 10 AM to 6:30 PM) to get our bearings along the beach front and down Las Olas Blvd. We also took the city bus ($1.75 per trip or $4 all day or $16 for a week pass--buy tickets on the bus) as the #40 went past the hotel (and just a 10 minute ride to the Harbor Place with lots of grocery stores, restaurants and shops), and we changed to the #11 to ride down to the shops/restaurants/activities on Las Olas Blvd. The beach was clean, and had picnic tables and trees for shade, as well as lifeguards on duty.
We recommend eating at Southport Raw Bar on Cordova Street (from the hotel, walk across the street and take the bus across the bridge, at the shopping plazas, get off on Cordova Street where the Winn Dixie grocery store is, make a right on Cordova, and it's just a few blocks on the right). The food was excellent, but the fish tacos and Old Bay shrimp were the best! The bill was about $40 for two adults. We sat outside on the waterfront. Just aroud the corner from there is Lady Helen Fishing Charters, were we did a 6 hour fiishing trip with Captain Jeff that was awesome! At the beach front, just around the corner from the Elbo Room, we at at Beach Pizza, and had a great slice of cheese pizza and a soda for $4.50.
