We stayed at the resort from May 30 - June 3, 2007. I'll sum it up by saying our stay was simply fantastic. Before booking our trip to the Pelican Grand Beach Resort, I read many, many reviews posted on this Web site.

My husband, our three-year-old son and I were very impressed with everything. We arrived early (11 am-ish) and our room was already ready for us. I had called ahead and mentioned that we would be arriving early. I did not expect our room to be ready when we arrived but that we'd have to wait a bit - this was not the case. It was so nice to be able to get into our room right away after having just flown for the first time with our three-year-old.

Our room was perfect - we stayed in a queen suite on the 7th floor - the separation between the 2 rooms was excellent for traveling with a toddler. One room had 2 queen beds, TV, desk and chair. The other room had 2 sofas - one pulled out into a bed - a tv, frig (not a tiny one but a good-sized one), microwave, table and 2 chairs and door to our balcony which looked out over the ocean. The rooms were divided by a wall of windows and a door. The windows had blinds, so at night, we could put our son to sleep in the "bedroom" and we could stay up in the "living room".

We used room service quite a bit and the service was excellent - no long waits and the room service attendants were very pleasant. My husband and I ordered 2 non-alcoholic drinks with our dinner one evening and the staff, knowing we had a child with us, sent up an extra straw for him. That says alot to us. We were highly satisfied with the housekeeping of our room. Our housekeeper, Ramona, was very friendly when we happened to be in the room when she came. And the view from the balcony was absolutely fantastic - beautiful sunrises.

I tend to have trouble sleeping when we are away from home but the beds/mattresses in the room were so comfortable that I had no problem sleeping at all (not even on the first night).

We enjoyed having access to the beach directly from our hotel. It's important to know that there is no life guard at the beach. We saw some teenagers have real trouble getting back into shore (rip currents were strong that day). Folks just need to be smart and careful.

I think the best feature was the Lazy River. We spent quite a bit of time tubing. The pool staff were very friendly. The pool was perfect for a non-swimming toddler. My son could walk right in as far as he (or I) felt comfortable.

David, the concierge, was also very helpful - he arranged for a car rental for us, provided a screwdriver when we needed to fix a toy :-), and gave us suggestions on what to do on a rainy morning.

We plan to return to the Pelican Grand Beach Resort and highly recommend it.

We stayed over memorial day weekend at the Pelican resort. We would recommend it to anyone! We had an oceanview suite which was huge. The sitting room was a separate room with a sofa bed for an extra person. We had a package which included breakfast every morning. All the weekend days include a breakfast buffet which was incredible. We would basically eat breakfast and then eat dinner because it was so much food. The staff was friendly and servicable and the entire hotel was spotless. We would highly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

This is the second stay for me at the Pelican Grand. It is one the best vacations I have ever taken.. The people who work there are very courteous and the concierge (David) was the best. Jamie, Barry and Mindy at the bar were fantastic. To walk out of the hotel and be right on the beach is terrific. The porch and rockers on the beach are so relaxing. I will be back there over and over.

I absolutely loved the resort! First class service, rooms are huge, and everyone down to the maintenance staff was extremely helpful and courteous. No complaints whatsoever. I travel to Fort Lauderdale several times a year, and I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for five days and absolutely loved it! Our room was wonderful, the pool was great, the hotel was beautiful, the staff was friendly - it was a GREAT experience!
The Bad - There were only two things that bothered me. There was no flag warning system on the beach - we had to watch the news to see that it was red flag and we should not go in the water. They had lunch out by the pool, but a hot dog was $7 and a burger was $10 - are you kidding me!!! We bought groceries at Winn Dixie and cooked our own hot dogs in the microwave. Total cost - $10 for more than enough food for 4 people! (In fact we shared with another family we met!)
The In Between - Parking was Valet and was $12 a day - it was somewhat frustrating as I can park my own car and walk. We chose not to tip as we felt for as many cars as were being parking at $12 a day, they were making plenty of money. Several people around us did the same. The pool and lazy river are a bit smaller than I had expected, but all in all they were wonderful!
The Good - EVERYTHING ELSE! Nothing was so bad that it would detere me from staying there again! I LOVED this resort and we will return! My kids had a great time - the staff was wonderful with them and we felt very welcome. In fact, there were a ton of kids there and they all played and enjoyed themselves!! The ice cream shop was great, the front desk staff was nice, the valet's were helpful...it was just wonderful!

Go for it - enjoy your stay - you will not be sad that you did!!!

PS If you are reading some of the negative reviews, just remember that money can be stolen off the beach at anytime from any resort - it happened to me in Mexico. I do not think this is a reason to not stay at this resort - use your brain and hide your money or do not bring it with you!
