Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Pelican. Fantastic property. Stayed in a king suite with an ocean view. Nicely appointed and clean, gorgeous room really. Staff was friendly and helpful. Concierge arranged two fantastic dinners. Breakfast buffet is excellent, bar is nice with good food. Beach has chaises and bar and restaurant service on the beach. Also important, this is a condo/hotel property and I never got a sales pitch - you won't either unless you ask.
Highly recommend and will return.

Overall, my family & I enjoyed our stay at the Grand Pelican. The majority of the employees that we encountered were very friendly & quite attentive. There were a scant few employees who seemed a little stressed out, but really, almost everyone we dealt with was personable, helpful, and cheerful. The rooms were comfortable & spacious. We enjoyed breakfast & lunch at the hotel as well as happy hour at the bar. They had a poolside BBQ on the weekends with burgers & hot dogs. But we spent more time on the beach than at the pool. One thing to note - the beach isn't very wide since the hotel is so close to the ocean. In February (and presumably other winter months), the beach starts getting shady around 2 pm or so once the sun starts being blocked by the hotel itself. Then it's pretty much all shade by 3 pm, so if you're planning to hit the beach it's best to go earlier rather than later. The location is great & if you don't have a car, it's very easy to take a cab to/from restaurants & bars along Fort Lauderdale Beach & Las Olas Blvd. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Fort Lauderdale.

“Loved the Pelican!”

My husband and I just stayed at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort from February 18th thru the 22nd. I had read all the reviews before we went and I must say I wasn't disappointed! The only negatives that kept coming up in my reading was about the service and helpfulness of the staff. I must say we found them to be more than helpful and friendly and willing to go above and beyond. One example, we wanted to order a pizza and not knowing the locale, we didn't know which locations were close to the motel. I called the front desk and the girl who helped me, looked up the closest location, advised me that I would need the motel's address which she gave me and a phone number which she also gave me. Just one example of the help we were given. As everyone else stated, the rooms were lovely and extremely clean and the views was spectacular. The weather wasn't all that great until our last full day but the motel was so lovely we didn't mind. We too thought the valet parking to be a little pricey but it was also nice to call ahead and have your car waiting for you when you came downstairs. We would definitely stay at this lovely motel again.

We had a wonderful four night stay at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. The resort is at a wonderful location (however could have been better directions from staff since the sign was not lit) just north of Sunrise Hwy on the Atlantic coast.

The rooms have wonderful views both inside (huge bay window) & out (small balcony). The staff (excluding the concierge) was very friendly, hospitable & helpful. The rooms were clean, although not 'immaculate'.
The only negative was, although the food on location was wonderful, it was slightly overpriced. The restaurant options within walking distance are few so rent a car.

We WILL return to the Pelican Grand Beach Resort again!

This hotel is unique for the area. It is partially a condo hotel as well as a hotel. The location is great if you have a car, as it it right on the ocean, with nice beach, pool, and wandering water river around the pool. But,there are few places to eat within walking distance. However, a short walk north up the beach is the Ireland Hotel, which has a great breakfast and patio overlooking the beach. The room (we were upgraded to a very nice king suite overlooking the ocean) was comfortable, spaceous, and had a great balcony for sipping coffee as the sun rises from the ocean. The room was neat, but cleaning could have been more thorough, including washing the bathroom floor & base boards before new guests arrive. The young concierge was not very helpful as his suggestion for dinner for a Saturday night on the main st. in Ft. Lauderdale was to "walk around and see what looks good and ask if they have a table for two". With all that said, this hotel was very nice, had most of the amenities of a very expensive hotel, and was priced fairly for the area & being right on the beach
