Arrived at this hotel after flight to West Palm. Very clean hotel and spacious rooms. The bathroom was spotless and having a seperate sitting area with a refrigerator and microwave was nice. Balcony was fairly big for Florida standards and had a great view of the ocean. Our only complaint would be that it was confusing as to who was running the resort. They were selling timeshares in the lobby, but best Western's name was on everything. On our way out, we heard management discussing with the housekeeping that they were to remove everything with Best Western's name on it. Valet parking seemed to be the only way to park your car, but they were fast and polite. It was only $12 per day, so we didn't feel ripped off. I would definitely stay here again.

My family of four children under ten needed a place keep busy, during the day while our oldest child participated in an Irish Dance event at a different hotel nearby. The staff at the Best Western were very polished and understood old fashion 'customer service', letting us check into a room much much much earlier than their stated check-in time. The room was unoccupied the evening before and thus clean and available, and without delay, they let us have it early in the morning. This accomodation allowed us to feed the kids room service breakfast and let them play in their Lazy River pool all day long with our sitter's supervison, while my wife and I watch our daughter's performances. The kids had so much fun they did not event pay attention to the fact that it drizzled all day. Funny thing, when you swimming, your already wet. Bugers for lunch on the room's patio deck facing the Atlantic Ocean, they had it made. Normal list: Room - Clean and Current. Restaurant Brunch for mom, dad, grandma & grandpa - above average. Lazy River/Pool - Great for kids under ten. Special note - valet car people worked their collective rear ends off as everyone appeared to check-out at the same time and they managed to not be affected by everyone's 'me first' grimaces.

We just got back from a week stay at the pelican beach resort and it was outstanding. The non-smoking rules at the resrot were fabulous!! No one was smoking anywhere on the resort and for non-smokers thats perfect. The room we had was outstanding very clean, big and the view was very enjoable. The beach was clean the water was clear and warm the only downfall was if you wanted a umbrella at the beach it was 15$ a day. The kids loved the lazy river the pool is small but very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. We did not eat at the resturant but the icecream palor was great. Overall we loved the resort would go back.

Positives: Absolutely beautiful place, incredible room decor and comfort, at a fair price compared with others. Really luxurious beds.Soap / shampoo dispensers in showers with excellent water pressure. Really courteous staff. Gorgeous views especially from the 11th floor open gazebos, open to any guest (great place for a photo!) The lazy river is really fun even for Mom - but it is kind of small. Sitting on the back porch rocking chairs watching the ocean in the eveinings is great. Not so positives: having to deal with valet parking every time you want to go somewhere. The pool is smallish and there are only about 50 lounge chairs, and not much shade.we were lucky to be there at a not so busy time. The beach is pretty narrow right along here, and it was just too far away from any shops. etc. that teenagers would like to browse. We had hoped they would be able to go off on their own for a bit. For that I'd recommend closer to Las Olas or Sunrise. Even to run out for a bottle of wine - not nearby enough. Teens will bore of the small pool and two-station computer / business room quickly. Terrific place for gatherings or familes with smaller kids.
If going to Ft. Lauderdale, bring a roll of quarters for all the parking meters in the city - avoid getting a ticket like we did! The water taxi is a must - only $5 after 7 pm and a real sightseeing adventure.

We stayed at Pelican Beach 4 total nights over Memorial Day. The hotel's proximity to the beach was perfect. Nice private area. The non smoking part of the hotel was WONDERFUL. A man was smoking by the pool which I may have mentioned to the staff and they were on him immediately to put it out. The pool and lazy river, although my children enjoyed, looked much bigger in the photo's but were still enjoyed by all. The restaurant's food was very good but was limited on choices. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be right on the beach. The room was very nice - we had a 2 queen bed suite which worked perfect for a family of 5.
