“Simply Amazing”

We stayed at the Best Western Pelican Beach Resort in April 2006. Walking into the lobby, I forgot I was in a Best Western! This hotel is beautiful! The hotel has two pools, a circular one, and a lazy river. Both were very enjoyable! The location on the beach was also very convenient and nice. The hotel provides comfortable beach chairs for both the pool and beach areas.
Our room was a standard Deluxe. It had a king bed, pull out couch, panoramic view of the ocean, as well as a side balcony overlooking both the pool area and beach. The room was HUGE!
We ate at the hotel's restaurant, The Ocean Grille. The food was great, as well as the service. One morning we even got breakfast sent to our room and it was hot and fresh, almost like we were in the restaurant still!
I suggest this hotel to anyone who is looking for a beach-themed vacation, with great luxury.

“A lovely place with spectacular views”

We stayed here for one night en route to Miami and loved it. The hotel is right on the beach and we had wonderful views overlooking the beach and the Atlantic Ocean from our suite. Talking of which, the suite was marvellous. It was so nice to sit in our lounge area (which is seperate from the bedroom) and look out to sea....or better still, sit on our balcony !! If I had to pick out a minus point, it would be the size of the bathroom...a little on the basic and small side.

Cant understand though what a couple of previous reviewers were saying about poor customer service from the staff...we only ever encountered friendly, helpful staff right from the front desk and bellboy through to the restaurant (where we had a great dinner) and bar.

The cost of the suite is more expensive than many Best Westerns but you are paying for the fact that its on the beach and also that it is slightly upmarket from the usual Best Western hotels. Would definitely recommend this and we would stay there again if in the area.

Although we loved our stay last year, we were very dissappointed this year. When the hotel was still under renovation and they did not have the fitness center, restaurant etc. that had been promised, they made up for it with friendly service. This year, they ranged from arrogant to avoidant.

The restaurant is not very good and the service is not attentive. Also - if they want this to be an upscale establishment, they should train the wait staff better. For example, when explaining what comes with a particular meal, it is really low class to say "you have your starches."

The rooms are new and presentable, however, the housekeeping is irregular. Sometimes, they give you coffee. They may never clean the pot. Sometimes they leave 6 towels, sometimes 4. Surely there should be a set number so they can tell if you have taken any and charge you.

The prices have increased by about 50%! It's just not worth it.

The owners of this place do not answer any questions at the desk nor do they answer an emails. They try to compete with the $600 a night hotels near. they feel since their location and the beauty of their hotel stands out on Ocean drive that it deserves an upscale snotty image and over price rack rate. Nice views inside and out. All the employees lack customer skills. The owners do nothing to offer AAA rates or even specials for New years eve or easter specials as other hotels do. They are listed with Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotels but don't offer any rates until your get to their site which you have to pay the over price rate. This is a Best Western Hotel, it should never be rated more than $299us for suite and $229 regular room.

Personally, I would stay at the St Regis if i wanted upscale price and for the cost under $300 a night , I rather go to Hyatt Pier 66, much better deals and better service with awesome beds that Pelican Beach Resorts do not come close to.

“Loved it!”

Just got back from a long weekend stay at the Pelican Beach Resort and was very pleased with the hotel. The rooms were very nice and very clean. We had a nice view of the pool and the ocean. Spent most of our time at the pool which was lovely. Lots of families with small children and too noisy at times by the pool but other than that very relaxing. Ordered lunch by the pool and although the service was great the food was just so-so. I found the staff to be very helpful and courteous as well. Would definitely go back again.
