Stayed here based on TripAdvisor ratings and I must say, I absolutely loved this hotel, I feel like we found a hidden gem in South Florida here. TripAdvisor is 2 for 2 with my last 2 vacations – I’m starting to believe in this. I was nervous about a Best Western, as I prefer upscale accomodations. This hotel was upscale, but not stuffy, which I really liked. The public areas are just gorgeous. The patio overlooking the beach was great and relaxing. The pool is excellent and the lazy river is a unique touch. The great thing about this hotel is the location, it is on the beach side of A1A, no tunnles or walkways to the sand like many hotels need, just a couple of steps down from the patio to the sand and the Atlantic Ocean. Beach has a very natural feel to it and the water was pleasant, and not too rough. There was some sea weed washed up on the beach, and I would have preferred they raked the beach each day, but they might not be able to due to enviromental rules or concerns. Also the hotel is at the North end of Ft. Lauderale, which we liked, away from the crowds and busy area. If you are looking for an active beach scene or nightlife, you may want to look elsewhere.
The rooms are extremely comfortable, great sized suite, very comfortable beds, very clean. Again, an upscale feel is felt in the rooms. The one exception would be the bathrooms, just basic white tile and no nice toiletries just shower gel and shampoo in a dispenser on the wall. The ice cream parlor/snack shop is handy, and we ate breakfast at the restaurant one day, it was a very nice buffet spread, great omelete and waffle station and it was reasonably priced. Tried to go to the restaurant once for lunch, but got snooty service from the hostess and told we would have to wait, while many tables were empty – so we went to the tables outside the bar and had a nice lunch al fresco by the pool. Not sure what the deal was with the hostess – she was the only rude staff member we encountered. Everyone else was super nice and helpful. Concierge recommended a nice Italian restaurant that we enjoyed and hit the mark with the “monkey jungle” park in South Miami, which was a bit of a drive but really unique and fun once we told her about plans to go to the zoo to see monkeys.
Would definitely stay here again, and plan to look here first for any stay in South Florida.
