Visited this hotel/resort July 1st - 2005 for 2 nights, enroute to a cruise vacation.

There were 14 of us travelling together, which is alot of people, especially
when requesting a table for breakfast.

Best Western Pelican Beach Resort, was absolutely the most fabulous place
for us to be.

Rooms overlooking the ocean were so beautiful. Spacious, well thought
out floor plans, and gorgeous furnishings. Beds were comfortable, including
the single pull out couch!!

This resort was so accomodating at breakfast time, they had no problem
finding and setting us a table for 14 for breakfast, and not only that, they
did it with a smile on their face!! Service was very, very good, they
could not do enough to please you.
The front desk was efficient, and very professional, with all check ins and
check outs.

The lazy river pool, was busy when we were there, but there was always room in the pool for our family. There was even a BBQ lunch, that was
being set up around the poolside.
Great access to the ocean, and the wrap around porch area of the hotel
was truly one of the most relaxing spots to enjoy a cool drink.
Hotel bar was very nice, and the salads were delicious!!

Great location, a very nice mall nearby - just a short drive, as well as
some great resturants!!

We definitely will be back to this resort...it was a beautiful beginning to our
cruise vacation.

If there is one thing I could tell you about this resort, it would be every great
trip to Florida should begin and end at the Best Western Pelican Beach Resort!!!!!

Thanks from one happy Canadian family!!!!!

ROOMS - Pleasant
FOOD - Average. Breakfast buffet was horrible. They probably shouldn't even call it a buffet. Lunch was OK. Dinner was average and definitely not worth the money.
SERVICE - Staff was very moody. Front desk staff was miserable.
POOL - Very small. Not enough beds. They only have about 6 umbrellas.
Valet- Very slow and disorganized.
Ice Cream Parlour - What's the point? It closes at 5pm.

Overall, it is an average hotel at best. The staff just did the minimum required. Not one employee went out of their way. I would definitely not stay here again.

Just came back from a 3 night stay during 4th of July weekend. From the onset the attendant at the registration desk was not professional and with a bad attitude which he later apologized but the damage was done. I had booked thru Hotels a room with a private balcony. I was given a room on the second floor with a shared large balcony. I was so upset . I told the man at the registration desk that he was giving me a room I had not booked or pre-paid a month earlier. I told him I even paid more thru Hotels because their description mentioned floors 3-9th floor private balcony and I demanded a private balcony. After much discussion back and forth I was given a 5th floor room with the private balcony. But that just made a bad start to my weekend stay. As we were valeting our car - I was told I could not bring my small cooler I packed with munchies. I said - " I will bring down my cooler no matter what!". and I did just that. I just had to keep it in the room and could not take it to the beach. I was told I could not have guests visit me during my stay. I had friends who were driving from Miami to visit us - but I had to tell them to forget about meeting us at the hotel. That ruined our plans to celebrate the 4th of July together. All guests had to wear wristbands to ID them as hotel guests. Everyone was tagged for the weekend - if you didn't have a wristband - you were told to leave. No boomboxes or radios allowed (I can understand that). Hotels description mentioned 10% all meals and drinks. I was issued a one-time 10% off! ( I hate being ripped-off). Breakfast was not tasty and cold. Do not eat there. I was given credit for my stale croissant.
Positive notes: The room was lovely - very spacious. But no extra goodies like shower caps, lotions. etc. I expect goodies when I am paying a premium price.
The bed was a pillow-top and very comfortable. Sheets were very nice done the european way - blanket between two sheets.
The veranda was nice to sit and relax. The beach was clean. The hotel is right on the beach. Many beach chairs but no umbrellas. Bring your own or you will fry.
Cons: Besides the check-in fiasco - The pool is small for the number of rooms. But the lazy river is nice.
For the amount of money I paid ($1225.00 for 3 nights) I expected more.

Most of hotel staff were nice but that one guy at check-in ruined my expectations from the start. Other than those few mishaps - my stay was rather nice.

I took my wife down to FLL and stayed at the PBR from 6/17-6/19. We got to the hotel early(9:00 A.M.) and requested a room. They got us a room within 10 mintues and upgraded us at no charge to a suite. This is with out a doubt the nicest hotel/resort I have ever stayed at and with the price we got, I felt like it was a steal.

All staff from front desk to housekeeping to bar/restaurant were excellent and friendly. Beautiful hotel and my wife and I especially liked the back porch area with wonderful views of the ocean. Pool and lazy river were great and ocean/beach was wonderful as well. You got to use resort towels and beach chairs at no charge on the beach.

Suite was super nice with nice decor and everything was spotless. Housekeeping greeted me every morning and all were nice and helpful. This is a hotel/resort that I will definitely return to and highly recommend. In all super service and super prices makes a happy customer. I will return next year for possibly a weekend get away and vacation as well with the whole family.

Other hotels/resorts should take notice of how this one is run. Kudos to management and ownership.

Our family of stayed at the Pelican Beach Resort Sun Tower for 5 days. Overall the new hotel looks great and had a southern charm. The Sun Tower was clean and had a beautiful view of the ocean and was more quiet and peaceful then the new building. Some of the front desk people were not friendly and didn't relay all information about the hotel amenities. One of the valet staff was very rude and arogant. He consistently left me standing outside the car door as my husband and kids were helped into the car and then would walk away. The bar staff didn't impress us either. They didn't greet you when you entered and you were left to wonder if you should seat yourself or wait another 20 minutes until they acknowledged you. Once you got their attention they were helpful and polite. The food was overpriced (lunch for 4 people was about $65). The pool staff was wonderful and went out of their way to get beach chairs, towles and umbrellas when requested. They were also friendly and helpful to the kids. The hotel had a great family atmosphere. Other than some of the staff members, the hotel location, amenitites, and lovely decor really were enjoyable. More staff attention to the customer would make this the perfect resort.
