I just took 3 of my daughters on a wonderful winter get away to this beautiful new hotel! 2/28/05-3/4/05. The staff could not of been nicer or more accomadating! We really enjoyed it! The only negatives of the whole trip was the taxi ride from the airport, IT WAS FILTHY DIRTY!!!!!!!We took a Limo back to the airport from the hotel which they graciously found for us at a discount price! Only 7 more dollars than the taxi! The weather didn't cooperate only 2-3 partly sunny days out of 5, but apparently if a north-easter hits the upper east coast, it does affect Florida as well! I Thank GOD for the sunshine we did have, it felt marvelous to be out of SNOWY Pa. Basking in the sun on the fabulous beach was invigorating! You could see the ocean while in the pool which made the pool seem endless! ! The little ones didn't seem to mind and swam in the heated pool anyway when the sun hid behind clouds! I highly reccommend this resort especially if you want a "family" vacation! It was Chilly and RAINY one of the days so we walked to the Galleria Mall. Very nice Mall! Within walking distance so you don't need a car.

Just got back from a girl's weekend at the Pelican and I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay! The staff was awesome and very friendly. Our room, a suite, was beautiful and looked out over the ocean! The beach was clean and the pool and lazy river delightful! We were pleasantly surprised to find out that they served a continental breakfast, and it too was wonderful! Parking is very reasonable. Overall I would highly recommend you stay here! I researched a lot of hotels before deciding on the Pelican, and am so glad I chose it! We plan to return next year!

This is a brand new property so I booked sight unseen and was so happy once I got there. I decor is old Florida beachy with bold prints and wicker. There is an incredible verranda out the back with couches and rocking chairs that face the ocean (spent a lot of time out there). The rooms are lovely, regular rooms are all kings and suites have king and queen beds. Best part is that the entire hotel is non-smoking. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Bar staff is great, and the food is incredible! Not the typical bar food. Since it was so new, the hotel's restaurant wasn't open yet. Four stars from me!

So bright, fresh and airy. If you can't stand to be without access to fresh air THIS is the place you want.
We had a 7th floor oceanview suite w/king. Our space was quiet and very romantic. There is still construction on the 2 top floors and you will hear some of it, so be aware.
Internet access using the TV screen needs tweaking, it's not easy to read.
Breakfast was okay. Danish and muffins tasted commercially made.
The Galleria Mall has a fabulous eatery.

I haven't actually visited the Pelican yet, but plan to in February. Due to all of the negative reviews on the old hotel, I called the hotel directly and spoke with, Doug, who was very helpful. We booked our room online and wanted to make sure that we had the new hotel and not the older one. Doug said that it took a day to get the reservation online and to call back the next day, which I did. I spoke to Doug again and he assured me that we had a room at the new hotel, and not only that, he upgraded us to an oceanview room. Now that's what I call outstanding customer service. Previously, we spent hours trying to decide which hotel to stay at, and until the Pelican became available on hotels web site, we didn't know it was open. All of the other hotels that are actually on the beach seem to be old and in need of some major repairs. The reviews from all of the beachfront properties really scared us and we were nervous about staying at the first place we booked, so we cancelled when the Pelican became available. Now, I'm really looking forward to our stay at the hotel and visiting Fort Lauderdale.
